First Congregational Holds Services At Senior Center

Repair work and carpet installation is well underway at the First Congregational Church, 24 Main Street, Pittsfield, making the sanctuary temporarily unavailable. Regular 10 a.m. services will be held, however, at an alternate Pittsfield location -- the “Senior Center” at the Community Center, for the remaining Sunday, August 24. The entrance is at the lower level on Broadway, around the corner from the main Community Center entrance at 74 Main Street. Parking is permitted on Broadway, Main Street and at the Town Hall.

From now through August 30, the church will not be available for other activities. Please join us any Sunday at 10 a.m. and watch for more information in The Sun about the church’s 225th anniversary celebration events coming in the next few months. Sunday School begins September 14. For more information, call the church office at: 603 435-7471.

South Pittsfield Friends Meeting House Hold Services

Many past members were among the folks who attended the service on August 10th.  Reverend Nancy Talbot, minister of the North Barnstead Congregational Church and former resident of South Pittsfield, led the service.  Her husband Steve, playing the banjo, provided music for the hymns. Following the service, fellowship refreshments, brought by Pauline Wheeler., were enjoyed by all. Folks hung out discussing past memories of Sunday School and the Quaker service. The final service for this summer was held on Sunday, August 17th.
