Sara Rafeal, 30 and Josh Tetro, 29 have been together for 2 1/2
years. They have a child together, Damien, 1 1/2. Sara works on
the NHTI campus and Josh works for Bed Bath and Beyond. Sara is
a long time resident of Pittsfield, went to Pittsfield schools
and has attended the balloon rally 25 years straight. They
currently live in Pittsfield. No date has been set yet for the
wedding. Josh has always wanted to top the proposal of one of
his family members. He wanted to do something big, so that is
why he wanted to propose at the balloon rally over the loud
speaker in front of tons of people.
Terry and Denise Robinson, owners of Granite Image Printing,

Training and volunteer orientation, and to show slide shows and

Letter To The Editor
To The Good Citizens Of Pittsfield:
I was elected to the
Planning Board in March 2009. Consider this my Mid-term Report.
This Summer the Planning Board, along with their normal
business has been working with Matt Monahan from the Regional
Planning Commission. Our goal is to have an updated Zoning
Amendment for the voters to decide in March 2011.
I have been involved with two Zoning Amendments in the past.
Both failed at Town Meeting. I will only vote for this one if it
markedly restores some of our property rights. I think it was
Martin Luther King who said in order for things to go your way,
you have to be involved. I say politics is a losing game,
however once and once in a while you win one.
My friend, the high plains drifter, was talking to me from
Camden, Maine, a while back. He told me he feels he’s in his
last decade. I just had a birthday, I’m getting that feeling
too.
Before I die, these are the three things that I need to
accomplish:
First, I need to die a free man.
Second, I
need to provide for my family after I’m gone.
Third, I need
to leave my town better than when I found it.
This is why I am looking for signatures for a petition that
I have that would repeal the 1988 Zoning Ordinance.
I thought that I should up the ante on our Zoning decisions
this March.
Rich Hunsberger once told me we need to put the America back
in America.
I agree and also add why should I have to ask permission to
live peaceably on my land.

Our Circle of Home and Family Group is a women’s group that
meets (typically) on the fourth Thursday of each month (except
for the summer) at 7 p.m. at the Pittsfield Community Center.
Our meetings are a craft time, a speaker of various topics -
(generally geared toward family, home, gardening, food and
health), a service project (we’ve done many sewing projects,
food drive collections and volunteering at various other groups)
and we always have delicious refreshments. It is quite a social
time - with some interesting, informative topics mixed in!
New
members are always welcome. If you’d like more information about
the group or if you have any questions, please call Andi Riel at

We were floored by the response to our first ever Adult
Summer Reading Program! On the theme of “Water Your Mind –
Read!”, more than sixty readers signed up and took home activity
booklets to go along with their choice of books to read. There
were no minimum requirements for how many books or activities to
complete, but all accomplishments earned raffle tickets for the
wind-up party.
Creativity abounded as participants wrote book reviews,
collected articles, described memorable experiences, or took
photographs – all with some connection to water. More points
were added for literary trivia quizzes, Sudoku, crosswords, and
a match-the-author-to-the-photo page. Attendance at Book
Baseball and Book Jeopardy nights earned even more points. The
best part was that you could choose which activities you wanted
to tackle. If all you wanted to do was read, that was OK, too.
Top award winners were Nancy Bush for overall achievement,
Alice Tuson for best picture in the Travel with Debby category,
Jody Gallant for high point scoring, and Laura Vincent for most
points earned from program participation.
The raffle was the highlight of the evening. Everyone went
home with something, and even those who couldn’t attend had
their names entered in the raffle and won prizes. A big thank
you goes to local businesses who very generously stepped up to
support this program! AffirmWater, Bark Now, Epsom House of
Pizza, The Ivory Rose, Loudon Garage, and Michele’s Totally
Awesome Gourmet Popcorn donated raffle prizes that built up
anticipation and beefed up incentive. Hats off to them!
Thanks to Barbara Sullivan and Carol Pike, other popular raffle
items were available. Please keep us in mind for next year if
you have some items to donate. We are especially in need of
items that the gentlemen in the program would enjoy.
No social gathering is quite complete without good food.
Roberta Dempsey provided delicious home-baked blueberry and
banana mini-loaves and Laura Vincent brought a sumptuous
assortment of cheeses with crackers. All-in-all, we had a great
shared experience tied in with the celebration of reading and a
terrific wind-up party. We are already looking forward to what
we might do next year!
