Registration Opens for VA Forum On Women Veterans
VA To Help Build Women Veterans Communities And
Networks
The Department of Veterans Affairs opened registration on
July 8 for a women Veterans forum that will address the quality
of VA health care, the provision of benefits for women, and ways
for VA to continue improving access to the care and benefits for
women Veterans.
“The VA forum will bring advocates for women Veterans
together to learn about VA services and to share valuable
information with each other,” said Secretary of Veterans Affairs
Eric K. Shinseki. “The forum will also give Veterans’ advocates
the tools they need to help build women Veterans networks and
communities throughout VA.”
Shinseki and VA department heads will attend the forum on
July 28 at the Women’s Memorial in Arlington, VA.
VA’s women Veterans health conference held earlier in the
month will help inform the Forum with the most up-to-date
information available from VA’s health care system.
Smoke Detectors Save Lives…And Property
Submitted By Lt. Nicholas Abell Code Enforcement/Public
Education Bureau
Pittsfield Fire Department
Smoke Detectors save life and property by alerting occupants
to a problem before it becomes too late. Early notification to
the fire department is key in keeping a fire contained to one
room, instead of losing your house. Please take a few minutes to
check each smoke detector, ensure there is a minimum of one
detector on each level of your home, and they work properly. A
fire doubles its size every minute, so time is NOT on your side!
Once your smoke detector alerts you to a problem, get out, stay
out and call 911.
Pictured on the right: is Tim Lewis and the left: Chris Lawson
of A&C Fencing who are doing a fabulous job of installing all of
the new fencing at Pittsfield Youth Athletic Park. Being
community minded, they are donating some of their time on the
project. Thank you Tim and Chris.
Pittsfield Youth Baseball extended its deepest
appreciation to Michie Corporation for donating the steps
between the upper and lower fields. Thank you for your community
spirit.

Letter To The Editor
To The Good Citizens Of Pittsfield:
At the Selectmen’s
meeting on July 6th I learned the following:
The high court had agreed for Nashua to buy back their water
by eminent domain.
It is time for Pittsfield to move forward and do the same.
There is currently $50,000 more in the town’s fire hydrant
account than needed. There is approximately $7,000 left in the
legal fund that the town appropriated to purchase our water back
from Pennichuck Corp. We should use this water related money to
move forward to own our water rights and system.
I beg the Selectmen not to use this $50,000 for the town’s
living expenses or equipment purchases.
Selectman Fred Hast, you made a lot of sense at this
meeting. Don’t let up.
