Journey
to Bethlehem
Journey to Bethlehem is an experience that takes the
whole family back to the days of Jesus’ birth in the little town of
Bethlehem. It is a chance to walk around the marketplace and
hear the excitement residents have as the word spreads of the Savior
being born. Families can visit the shepherd field where the
angels announced His birth, they can visit the inn where Mary and
Joseph were turned away, and they can visit the stable where Jesus
was born. Families are invited to interact with the characters and
place themselves in Bethlehem.
The event will be held Friday and
Saturday nights on December 10th and 11th, from 6-8 pm at New
Beginnings Church of the Nazarene.
We will be collecting
non-perishable food items at the door to benefit RiseAgain Outreach,
which helps families in the greater Concord area. The church
is located at 33 Staniels Road in Loudon and is across from the Red
Roof Inn. For more information the church office phone
number is 224-1311.
Letter
To The Editor
To the good citizens of Pittsfield: I have heard
that the Federal Deficit comes down to either printing or borrowing
more than $3 billion a day including Sundays. I wish somebody
would educate me on how we get away with it.
I have heard we are
on track to increase our yearly emissions globally of nitrous oxide,
methane, and carbon dioxide, this at the same time the world economy
has slowed. I know there are a few Republicans who don’t want
to hear this but it looks to me the earth has reached a tipping
point. Methane escaping from the arctic tundra to less ice and
snow allowing the soil and rock to absorb more heat from the
sun. Think melting glaciers.
I heard there is evidence of
seven ice ages throughout history.
Anyway back to the $3 billion
a day bailout - unless someone corrects me that is what total NH
property taxes are for 2010 - $2,950,807,566 almost $3 billion
yearly. That’s what $3 billion is. And that’s what we
need a day to keep our country running.
Some people are scared to
repeal zoning. We should vote back our freedom and land rights
this spring so we may better adapt to the changes sure to come.
Dan Schroth Piermarocchi Pittsfield
PS: I heard we cannot
control the wind but we can adjust our sail.
Pittsfield Players Auditioning For “Lie, Cheat, And Genuflect”
The Pittsfield Players will conduct auditions for the comedy “Lie,
Cheat, and Genuflect” in December. This madcap show, full of
physical comedy, calls for four adult male and four adult female
performers.
Written by William Van Zandt and Jane Milmore, the
story concerns the plight of Tom and Billy Buckle, brothers and
lowly gas station attendants who are desperate to get their hands on
their late grandfather’s money to pay off a loan shark. The
two break into their grandfather’s home to scheme the day before the
will is to be read. What occurs is lighthearted fun and
fast-paced action that is characteristic of the authors’ many works.
All auditions will be held at The Scenic Theatre, 6 Depot Street,
Pittsfield. Audition dates and times are:
Wednesday,
December 8th at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 12th at 5:00 p.m.
Monday, December 13th at 7:00 p.m.
“Lie, Cheat, and Genuflect”
will be performed at The Scenic in April 2011.
Christmas lights and blue and gold stars were put up, in Dustin’s
Park, in preparation for this year’s Holiday season. The Blue
and Gold stars are a tribute to current and past members of our
armed forces and were provided by the NH Gold Star Mothers
Association. The Greater Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce, as
sponsor of the annual event, would like to thank volunteers,
Bill Provencal, Mark Wallace, Fuzz Freese, Steve and Lea Adams,
Chris Ward (not Pictured), Louie Houle and Dave Diamond. A special
thank you goes to Diamond Sign for the use of their bucket truck.
The Christmas banners are also hanging merrily in the air thanks
to Tom Cheever, who once again has donated his time to change over
the banners.
