Pause for a moment. Is there something you would like to do just
for you? How about joining in a contest, going to a retreat,
going to meet other people from NH, perhaps making a few new
friends, or losing weight, while feeling guilt free.
If this is you, then perhaps TOPS is for you. We are a
support group that has fun along the way. The dues, yes dues are
very reasonable, the place is convenient, and we would like to
have you stop in for a meeting first. Meeting times are Tuesday
at 6:30 p.m. and for members to weigh in is 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. We
meet at the St. Stephen’s Church, Main Street, Pittsfield. We

Letter
This is just a short note to thank everyone who helped
out the victims of the tragic fire on Main Street in Pittsfield.
While I can’t thank every one on an individual level, because
there were just too many people helping out, I can give a
general overview.
First and foremost, I would like to
thank all of the people at Globe Manufacturing, LLC for all
pulling together to help and support me.
Globe itself has
become quite a multiracial workplace with people working there
from all over the world, such as Turkey, Korea, and Romania to
name just a few and there are more. I can assure you. I have
gotten to witness the people there grow from general dislike and
mistrust into more open people willing to learn about each
other.
Sometimes this learning process can be difficult when
you see them smiling, enjoying themselves and working together.
I believe it is worth the risk and believe me, I know about
that.
I would also like to thank the people at Bergeron
Protective Clothing for their gift of a brand new and now very
well used microwave as a welcome surprise. Also, I would like to
thank people for their donations into the various donation spots
around town.
Last, but certainly not least, I would like to
thank the Pittsfield Fire and Police Departments for their fine
work throughout the incident. I know this seems like a long time
when you are waiting for them, but it takes time to
assemble these people. You can’t wave a magic wand and they are
there.
As a matter of fact, a burly Police Officer kicked in
my door to warn me before I even knew the building was on fire.
I think that is pretty good work.
So thank you and keep up
the good work gentlemen and ladies.
Lastly, I think
everything I have written is a good example of what America
really is and can be, and it makes me proud to be a part of it.
And let us not forget each other, for sometimes we all need a
little extra help jut to get through another day.
Thank you
all very much.
Sincerely yours,
Alpha Gauthier
Letter To The Editor
Dear Editor:
I am writing in regards
to using the Floral Park Cemetery as the location for setting
off fireworks. I know that I am not alone when I voice my
opinion on how disrespectful it is to our loved ones buried
there.
During the Hot Air Balloon Rally, it was witnessed,
just how bad the situation was. People driving vehicles over the
plots, leaving soda/beer cans on top of gravestones among others
that are too long to mention hers.
Although we all love to
see the beautiful fireworks, the cemetery is not the place to do
it. We would not and do not allow people to treat the
cemetery disrespectfully any other time of the year, so why is
it allowed during the Balloon Rally weekend? Please, please find
a new spot to set the fireworks off. There has to be a neutral
place that can make us all happy. The cemetery is not the right
place, period!
Respectfully,
Heidi Knight

Oh wow, what a great photo on last week’s paper. What
wasn’t there was WHOSE garden that was. None other than Ruthi
True on Upper City Road. Ruthi is such a stalwart to our
communities, with her faithful, constant volunteering over the
years. She not only manages the Out of Your Attic Thrift Shop on
Route 28, but writes us all those fun and interesting articles
giving us ideas on how to help each other, as well as save money
during these tough times. Bravo Ruthi for all your gardening
work and your community service!

This letter is in no way, shape, or form with
disrespect to all readers or Martha Fife. As a matter of
fact, I stand behind her feelings but I believe that the truth
should be said for her benefit and all of the kind folks of
Pittsfield. For those who don’t know me, I am the person
who is in charge of the fireworks for the Balloon Rally in the
cemetery for over 20 years. If you go to the website
http://jawsa.homestead.com/OurTown2.html everyone will see
that all vehicles, foot traffic, and firework guns are on the
roads only. The only grounds we walk on are near the river
and only the river. Being a former Marine, I did two tours
in Nam, I respect the dead.
There is no self enrichment here.
Speaking for myself, but there are many others, I work very hard
to promote the Balloon Rally every year. I work endlessly
at my expense to bring the thousands of people here to
Pittsfield. This benefits all the kind people of
Pittsfield, all the businesses that badly need the money to get
by, and the Rotary who uses the money to reinvest into the town.
I work at this every day of the year to help Pittsfield and am
now working on the show for 2010.
I have a close friend who
is buried in Floral Park Cemetery. He is a friend to all
in Pittsfield, Senator George Freese, Jr., who gave me
permission over 20 years ago to use the cemetery. His wife
and two boys, Gef and Rob Freese, say to me after every show,
every year, “Thank you, Bob, because our dad is looking down
from Heaven with a big smile and applauding. Thank you.”
This brings me to say, our final resting place is with God.
Bob DePoutot of Northfield, NH and an ambassador for the Town of
Pittsfield, NH, that I love.

Dear Pittsfield Residents:
Another cry for help on
the watering of the hanging flower baskets throughout the
downtown.
The baskets are something we should be proud of and
don’t they look good right now?
Three two-person teams have
done the watering so far, but now we have come up dry. We do
have people without trucks who are ready to team up with a truck
owner-driver.
If you can help, please call me so that this
unique project can get through its 13th season and can aspire to
blooming again in 2010.
