I think
a lot about serving as a state representative, should my district
send me to the State House in November. I think about what has
happened since November 2010, how much we will need to fix, and the
future we will need to prepare for. That, for me, is a major part of
the work of state government, keeping those things we can’t do
efficiently and effectively for ourselves running, and planning for
the future.
A big
part of the process of government is the joint work of a governor
and a legislature. So, of course, I am very interested in who the
next governor will be. I’ve looked at my choices and one person
stands out, heads above the rest. That person is Jackie Cilley.
We have
some incredible challenges before us as a state. We have the
mistakes of the past year and a half to correct, and we have a
future in a global society on a warming planet to prepare for. We
need to have a full tool box, and we need to be able to use those
tools to help the people of NH, to whom we owe a great
responsibility, weather the coming storms and be healthy and
prosperous.
Jackie
will open the tool box for NH and let us decide which tools to use.
She knows business, and economics, she understands labor, healthcare
and education policy, and she has talked to people all across the
state. She is ready to lead.

Letter Live Free or Die (trying)
Yesterday, mid-afternoon, I was still in my pajamas because my
‘Spring cleaning’ came late this year and I did not want to take
time from organizing to dress properly.
I had a
visitor in the form of the local Animal Control Officer. A very nice
young man, I may add. A neighbor of mine, who (big surprise here)
chose to remain anonymous, filed a complaint about my rooster (yes,
I said rooster) being too loud. It seems my rooster has the ungodly
habit of making noise when the sun comes up. Go figure.
I want
to publicly announce that darned rooster has had a severely
stern talking to. I have also bought him a blindfold. If all goes
well, he will never know when the sun actually comes up or when
God’s day is truly due to begin.
In the
event that my fervent attempts prove unsuccessful, if anyone would
like to donate money for a rooster psychiatrist so that he can be
helped, by a professional, to deal with his deep-seated animosity
towards our neighbors (which he certainly must have to be so
annoying); those donations would be most welcomed. Just mail them
to: Mr. Rooster’s Psyche Fund, 151 Main Street, Northwood, NH 03261.
I would
also like to publicly thank my anonymous neighbor for reminding me
of how strong a person I am at not allowing negative thoughts to
enter my mind. I would also like to thank you for teaching my
children that there really is good and bad at all levels and they
need to be constantly conscious of what a liberal, selfish,
controlled world we live in.
God Bless America! Yvette DeVeau-Hurd

Watershed Association,
receives a thank you tribute from Marie Damon.

Vaillancourt, retiring president of the Northwood Lake Watershed
Association, presided at the 2012 Annual Meeting held at the

Brad
Hall and his Dive Team recently spent two days and removed 280
gallons of milfoil. Since 2010, the milfoil problem has

kayaks, dispose of the milfoil divers bring up. If you are
interested in becoming a tender, please call Brad Hall, 942-7138.
Phragmite elimination has made good progress on the lake.
The
Lake Host Program also needs volunteers. Lake Hosts monitor
and conduct courtesy inspections on boats entering and exiting
Northwood Lake for exotic aquatic species. To help, please contact
Joyce Lothian at
[email protected].
