Else
Cilley D.A.R. Vice Regent Barbara Frangione showing the properly
folded flag.
Members of the Else Cilley Chapter, NSDAR, met in June at the
historic Nottingham Square Schoolhouse. Vice Regent Barbara
Frangione presented a program on the United States Flag including
the proper folding technique. Members Lynne Sweet and Sue Massison
demonstrated the folding while Mrs. Frangione explained the meaning
of each fold. Delicious refreshments were served prior to the
program and a business meeting followed. Plans for the chapter’s
participation in the upcoming Nottingham Day were discussed. The
chapter plans to host a table with flag information including a flag
coloring activity for children and flags, bookmarks and flag code
literature to distribute. The chapter also made final plans for
their yearly yard sale, which was held on Saturday, June 26 in
Northwood. The proceeds will be applied to repairs to the
schoolhouse.
The August meeting is rescheduled from Wednesday to
Sunday, August 15 and will be a reception for a member who was
elected as Treasurer General at Continental Congress in Washington,
DC. The public and those interested in the DAR are always welcome at
our monthly meetings.
