The Gift of Enjoyable Moments
By Pastor Ted White

I was recently looking out the screened window on a beautiful sunny day. The trees on the edge of the woods were gently swaying in the soft breeze. The backdrop of light blue sky brought out the intense deep green of the flickering leaves. Two yellow Labrador retrievers were lying at my feet as I drank in this peaceful scene, enjoying the moment. Was this just a coincidence? Was it only a meaningless convergence of some unknown evolutionary force? Or was the joy and peace I experienced at that time more than some happenstance in time?

Personally, I do not think these moments of joyful peace are accidental occasions or meaningless moments, but insightful gifts foretasting the greatest joy ever to come. How grand they are now! How awesome they will be! We are told in Psalm 147:18, “He sends His Word and melts them, He stirs up His breezes, and the waters flow.” He is the Creator of all things (Genesis chapter 1; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:16-17; Hebrews 1:1-2). There are some people who are fearful that the world will end. It will end, but not until the Lord God Almighty causes it to. The reason this planet and all of creation is still here is because He is holding it together. It is amazing that one can look around and not see evidence for a Creator.

Actually Romans 1:18ff tells us that it is not that they did not believe in God, but they have chosen to suppress the truth by their wickedness. People are not born atheists; it is a chosen lifestyle like any other sinful lifestyle that is chosen. You believe what you want, but I will thank the Almighty Creator and His Son Jesus for these wonderful momentary gifts from His hand that foretell the perfect place He has provided, Heaven! May we enjoy it together!

Robin L. Drown

“Live, Laugh, Love” describes who Robin L. (Burklund) Drown, 51, of 31 Green Street in Northwood was as a person. Robin, who was an inspiration to family and friends passed peacefully on July 2, 2010, following a ten year battle against cancer.

She was born in Rochester, NH on July 6, 1958 to Robert Sr. and Joan (Beauchain) Burklund, one of four children.

Robin’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her presence understood the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her smile, bravery, strength, and courage will be remembered throughout her native community.

Robin started her career with The University of New Hampshire working at the Dunlap Center, where she worked as a financial secretary. While working at The University of New Hampshire, she attained her bachelor’s degree in business.  She then transferred to the Athletic Department where she proudly finished her career as the Athletic Ticket Manager.  Her 29 years of loyalty and commitment were important in her life.

Although Robin enjoyed many things in her life she truly cherished camping, going to UNH sports events, knitting, shopping, and most importantly spending time with her family.

Surviving family members include her loving husband of 33 years, Richard E. Drown; three children, Lauren Dow of Barnstead, Tania Chamberlin of Northwood, and Ryan Drown of Northwood;  her parents, Robert Sr. and Joan Burklund; two brothers, Robert Burklund Jr. and Scott Burklund; one sister, Debbie Marden; and her adored grand-daughter, Makenna Dow.

Memorial donations can be made to the Robin Drown Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of Coe- Brown Northwood Academy at 907 1st NH Turnpike, Northwood, NH 03261.  The funds will be given to a student pursuing a career in the medical field.

To honor Robin’s wishes, a separate fund will be established by family to put coverings over the Coe Brown Northwood Academy soccer team benches.  Donations can be made to Northeast Credit Union, 144 1st NH Turnpike, Northwood, NH 03261, made payable to the Soccer Project.

Funeral Services will be private.
