Preschool Openings!
Now
is the time to think about enrolling your child in preschool! The
Center School in Northwood is accepting registrations for the
2010-2011 school year. The Center School is a parent cooperative
preschool located next to the Town Hall in Northwood, which provides
a developmental program for three, four, and five year-olds of
Northwood and surrounding towns. There are openings in our two-day
(T/Th) program and three-day (M/W/F) morning programs. Call us soon
and come to visit! For information, please call director Karen
Andersen at the school at 942-7686.
The
First Baptist Church of Northwood will be holding a Tenebrae Service
on Maundy Thursday, April 1, at 6:30 p.m. The tradition of the
foot washing will be observed and communion will also be served.
All are invited to attend this moving observance of Holy Thursday.
Come and join us for Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. on April 4,
at the First Baptist Church in Northwood on Route 4 next to
Hannaford’s, followed by our traditional breakfast. We will be
serving homemade muffins, ham and scrambled eggs, as well as
pancakes, juice and hot beverage for breakfast. Cost for the
breakfast is a goodwill donation. If you can’t join us at 6:30 a.m.,
join us at 9 a.m. for our morning worship service. Please note the
change of time for this Sunday only.
Northwood Center School students brought healthy snacks and other
items for children to the Northwood Food Pantry.
The
recently formed Northwood Economic Development Committee was
introduced at the Northwood Town Meeting on March 13th. The
committee members chatted with local business owners and residents
about the committee’s goal of promoting Northwood as a good place to
live, work and do business. They also distributed a free Business
Directory that they have compiled and printed. The directory lists
Northwood businesses by category; copies are available at the Town
Hall and at other locations around town. The committee would like to
invite all Northwood-based business owners and operators to attend a
free “Business After Hours” to elicit feedback on the committee’s
mission and direction, as well as to exchange ideas about improving
the climate for business in the town. The networking get-together
will be held on Wednesday, March 31st from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at
the Northwood Community Hall (135 Main Street, Northwood). There
will be refreshments and door prizes. If you cannot attend, but
would like to know more about the EDC, the committee encourages all
residents and businesses of Northwood to attend their meetings,
which are held the first Wednesday of each month in the Northwood
Town Hall at 7:00 p.m. In addition, a taped interview with the
committee will be aired on the local cable access television show
“What’s New At The Forum” in the coming weeks.
Harvey Lake Woman’s Club Submitted By Jean Lane
The
Harvey Lake Woman’s Club Scholarship application forms have been
sent to Coe Brown’s Guidance Department. Completed applications must
be returned by May 1 to Harvey Lake Woman’s Club.
The
scholarship is designated for female Coe Brown graduating seniors.
This year it is in the amount of $500 to be earmarked for textbooks.
On
March 16, our members were invited to the Somersworth Woman’s Club
Reciprocity Tea. Those who went had a delightful time. A lovely
assortment of members’ arts and crafts creations were displayed.
Their program was a demonstration and talk by Toni Rhodes on gourd
painting and carving. Each of our members won at least one gift at
the silent auction.
Our
own Reciprocity Tea will be held on Tuesday, April 6, at 1 p.m. at
the Northwood Congregational Church Fellowship Hall. Members are
reminded to bring items for our silent auction and also finger foods
for the buffet table. As is our tradition, the Coe Brown music
department will entertain us. All area women are invited to join us.
The Harvey Lake Woman’s Club purpose is to promote sociability,
culture, and community service.
Easter Sunrise Service In Northwood
Submitted By Pastor John Newman
We
will be gathering at five forty-five a.m. at Heaven’s Point on
Saddleback Mountain on Easter Sunday, April 4th. We have had a
service on the mountain for the past twenty years to celebrate the
risen Savior! The road to Heaven’s Point requires a four wheel
drive. It is a little muddy, but level and clear of tree material.
We will have ground transportation supplied from the gate for those
who wish to leave their cars, or you can walk the half mile to
Heaven’s Point. The view of the sun as it appears to rise out of the
ocean is spectacular. If you would like to join us please call
942-8696.
A
free breakfast for anyone who wishes to join us, (no obligation)
will be held after the service at our church in Barnstead, Higher
Ground Ministries. Our regular Sunday service will take place after
breakfast at 9:00 a.m.
