Northwood Planning Board to Hold Public Hearings December 16
Proposed Changes to Land Use Regulations

The Northwood Planning Board will hold public hearings on December 16, 2010, beginning at 7:00 pm at the Town Hall to receive public input on proposed changes to its regulations.

The first proposal is to amend the existing Northwood Development Ordinance to allow an accessory apartment to an existing property with one other residential unit on the same lot when specific criteria are met.  An accessory apartment would require a building and occupancy permit and other conditions would be required such as adequate parking, septic system design and size of lot.  This proposal, if approved by the board after public hearing, will be presented to the voters on the ballot in March.

The planning board has also proposed changes to Site Plan Review Regulations which do not go before the voters, but may be approved by the planning board after public hearing.  The board has proposed another level of review within the site plan regulations to streamline the process for qualifying uses.  This new “third tier” enhances existing regulations for more involved proposed uses in the Major and Minor Site Plan Review. After thorough review, the planning board has proposed amendments to create another level of review for those uses which may be considered of Minimal Impact or are Home Businesses (as defined in the Ordinance.)

The proposal also clarifies the differences in Landscaping requirements for Major and Minor site plans.

The planning board welcomes public comment on these proposals either at the public hearing or in writing.  Copies of the proposed language are available at the town hall, Chesley Memorial Library, at the Northwood Post Office, or on the website.

CBNA Alumni Association

The CBNA Alumni Association is working hard to plan a little gathering after the Alumni basketball game on Wednesday, December 22. The first game starts at 5:30. We are planning on having some snacks until 10pm starting after the end of the second game. All Alumni and guests are welcome to join us and mingle with one another.

Also, we are currently selling puzzles for our fundraiser. Proceeds will be split between the Alumni Association and the Coe-Brown Northwood Academy annual fund campaign. Each puzzle has 300 pieces and resembles the Academy now and then. One is black and white in color of the way the school used to look and the other in color of an aerial shot of the current Academy. Get your Christmas shopping done early and purchase a puzzle OR two! The price of one is $20 or by a set (one of each) for just $35.00. Get them while you can. If you would like to view them, they are on the CBNA website, click on the Alumni Association. The puzzles will appear on the left. If you have any questions or would like to order see us at the Alumni basketball game or you may contact the Development and Alumni Affairs at 603-942-5532, ext. 186 or email [email protected]

Our next meeting will be held Thursday, Jan. 20 at 6:30 in the guidance conference room in the main building. Any Alumni is welcome to join us to see what we are all about. We are always looking for new faces and ideas. See you there.
