The Pittsfield Players have had a sort
of partnership for a long time now with the Pittsfield/Suncook
Valley Rotary Club. We feel as though we’ve sort of grown up
together. We’ve shared Christmases, special occasions, joys and
sorrows. The Players have been serving the Rotary dinner for
well over 20 years now. We’ve helped them with Balloon Rally
suppers, under the tent, entertained them with songs and antics.
We’re there for each other. We’re friends, we’re family.
Sometimes, though, family members get
into a tough spot and need a little more than a pat on the back
and the dose of encouragement. When the Players called upon the
community to lend a hand and a lot of money to a project, that,
if not completed, could shut us down, the Rotary responded. A
sprinkler system at the Scenic Theatre was needed to keep us
open and a sprinkler system is what we’re going to get.
Thanks to the Pittsfield Rotary Club who kicked off our major
fundraiser last year to the tune of $5,000.00 and a challenge to
the rest of the community to do the same, The Pittsfield Players
will begin installation of an entire building sprinkler system
in spring of this year. The Rotary sparked donations from many
including The Foss Family Foundation, Bev and Rene Drolet, The
Globe, fellow members of the Pittsfield Players, past and
present, and supporters of the arts in Pittsfield too numerous
to name. To wrap it up, the Rotary recently bestowed another
gift of $5,000.00 toward the sprinkler fund. This donation along
with two other donations the Players are expecting to receive
will complete our fundraising for this project.
We cannot thank everyone enough for
donating time, efforts, refreshments, show sponsorships, small
change and big checks. The Pittsfield Players are proud of your
