Chichester Charrette Committee Meets
The Chichester Charrette Committee met on Monday, July 27 at 7pm
at the Historical Society Museum. The purpose of the meeting was
to continue to explore ideas for the Grange/Town Hall parking
lot. This area represents the central location for the
definition of “Village Center” and is highly visible. A scale
drawing has been produced which will allow the committee to
consider traffic calming measures, traffic flow, increased green
space, and parking requirements. Future uses of the area could
include a gazebo, farmer’s market space, and relaxation areas
with benches. The committee viewed the area. The proximity of
the Conservation Land Walking Trail is an additional bonus for
this project.
We looked at types of fencing from other towns and discussed the
merits. The photo above, taken of the Grange Hall in 1908, shows
wooden fencing and trees. This historic photo will be used as a
guideline.
We discussed some possible funding sources and will explore
these for potential grants.
The next meeting of the local Charrette Committee will be held
on Monday, August 17 at 7pm at the Chichester Historical
Society. All interested parties are encouraged to attend.
The final report is available on the town web
site, www.chichesternh.org.
