On Monday, November 2, 2015, over 75 fifth and sixth graders
from Pittsfield Elementary School helped kick-off New
Hampshire’s statewide celebration of “I am College Bound” Month.
Coordinated by The NHHEAF Network Organizations’ (NHHEAF) Center
for College Planning, the celebration encourages children to
aspire to education beyond high school and provides resources to
parents, teachers and mentors. Participating in the event
included NHHEAF President & CEO, René A. Drouin, Pittsfield
School District Director of College and Career Readiness,
Melissa Brown, and special guest, NHHEAF’s College Planning Bear
mascot.
In addition, a panel of Pittsfield
Middle High School seniors and NHHEAF college experts,
encouraged students to think about college and careers by
sharing their stories. All celebrated the positive impact that
college has in supporting their personal, career, and life
goals.
An official proclamation from Governor
Maggie Hassan declared November as “I am College Bound” Month in
New Hampshire.
