Chichester Historical Society Museum Adds New Exhibits
The
Chichester Historical Society is expanding its’ exhibit space by
opening the upstairs of the old fire station at 49 Main Street,
which houses the museum. Pictured above is the newest exhibit under
construction which is a timber frame barn featuring authentic post
and beam construction. This exhibit was made possible by the
generous donation of the timbers by Goosebay Lumber located on Dover
Road in Chichester. Chichester resident Ian Blackman, a restoration
and conservation contractor, assisted by our president Bernd
Reinhardt, designed and constructed the timber frame for the barn
exhibit. When completed this exhibit will display our collections
of items found on a farm of 18th and 19th century Chichester. The
Chichester Historical Society has acquired over 1500 artifacts from
Chichester’s past and many of these are on display at the museum.
We are continually adding to our collection from Chichester’s past,
updating our exhibits and presenting programs throughout the year.
Everyone is welcome to visit our museum. We are open every Tuesday
from 9:00am till noon or by appointment. Admission is free.
