Else Cilley Chapter, NS DAR
Members of the Else Cilley Chapter, NS DAR, participated in the
Nottingham Day Celebration in September. The booth provided a
patriotic coloring activity for children, information about the DAR,
and flag code pamphlets. The women distributed over 60 small flags
to children throughout the day.
To raise money for repairs to the chapter-owned Nottingham Square
Schoolhouse, members held a raffle and sold cookbooks and chocolate
covered pretzels. Pictured above left to right are members Deanna
Rush, Barbara Frangione, and Lynne Sweet.
The October meeting was held at the Blaisdell Library in Nottingham
and included a virtual trip to historic NH sites via Google Earth
led by Regent Nancy Gervino.
The last meeting of the year was held on November 15 at the
Northwood Congregational Church on Route 4. Following the meeting,
members welcomed the chapter’s Good Citizen Contest winner, Garrett
Kunz, and his family to a potluck luncheon and awards ceremony
conducted by Katherine Fernald.
American History Chair, Jan Gilman, has contacted schools
encouraging participation in the DAR essay contests. If your school
would like to participate, you may contact Mrs. Gilman at 895-9238
for essay information.
Women interested in attending a meeting or joining the DAR may
contact Regent Nancy Gervino at 382-6389.
