Clay Sauls Book Signing At Chesley Memorial Library

Join Clay Sauls at the Chesley Memorial Library on Saturday, October 18,  for a book signing from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  His book “A Fictitious Life” was recently published.  Clay Sauls was born and raised in Northwood.  He is the third son of John E. Sauls and Norene S. Sauls.

While attending Coe-Brown Northwood Academy, Clay proudly wore the Coe-Brown Comanche uniform for the basketball, baseball and cross-country teams. Eager for excitement following graduation in 1979, Clay joined the United States Air Force where he was assigned a tour in Italy and a tour in Japan.

Prompted by the desire to explore literature and literary ideas more thoroughly, he began at UNH in Durham in 1990, earning a BA in English in 1993. Clay pursued his education earning an MA in Literature from the University of New Orleans in 1997.  He feels that the exploration of beliefs, ideas and feelings is a worthwhile and rewarding pursuit. Clay feels that these things can be expressed in a variety of ways including through writing.

It is the act of expressing oneself whether through diaries, letters, essays or novels that are the most gratifying.  Clay remains close with his family and owes a great deal of thanks to them for their love and support. His remaining family is his greatest source of strength.

The Chesley Memorial Library would like to thank the Harvey Lake Woman’s Club for donating the following books: Eleanor Roosevelt: Transformative First Lady by Maurine H. Beasley – donated in memory of Cecile Marini; Rachel Carson and Her Sisters: Extraordinary Women Who Have Shaped America’s Environment by Robert K. Musil – donated in memory of Doris Entwisle; Ladies of Liberty: The Women Who Shaped Our Nation by Cokie Roberts – donated in memory of Susan Holden.

These three books and many others over the years have been donated in memory of local members.   The Harvey Lake Woman’s Club belongs to the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, an international women’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.  Please visit the library and check one out today!
