Meredith Grady (Coe-Brown Northwood Academy/Northwood, N.H.) – Meredith played basketball and soccer and was the treasurer of both the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. Meredith will attend Quinnipiac University.

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats and the Fisher Cats Foundation awarded $30 thousand in scholarships to twelve college-bound students on Thursday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Ten graduates from New Hampshire high schools and a pair from northern Massachusetts were named Fisher Cats Foundation Scholar-Athletes, earning individual $2,500 scholarships before Thursday night’s game.

“We are proud to recognize each of these students as our Fisher Cats Foundation Scholar-Athletes,” said Art Solomon, Fisher Cats owner and chairman of the Fisher Cats Foundation board. “These students displayed a tremendous dedication in the classroom, on the playing field, and in making their communities better. We wish all of them the best of luck as they begin their collegiate careers.”

The scholarship recipients were selected based upon a criteria of academic excellence, athletic achievement, and active citizenship in the community. Money for the scholarships was raised through several Foundation endeavors, most notably the Granite State Baseball Dinner held annually in November.

This year, in addition to the Swymer Family Scholarship, which is an award offered annually to a student who has overcome a barrier and gone on to college, one of the awards will be named in honor of New Hampshire native Chris Carpenter of the 2011 World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals. Another award, the Easter Seals Veterans Count Scholarship, will be presented to a New Hampshire graduate whose parent or guardian is an active, reserve, or veteran member of the United States Military.
