Pittsfield Beautification Committee News
The Beautification Committee is pleased to welcome two new members,
Gail Allard and Jason Isabelle.
The new island gardens around town are now complete and blooming
nicely. Thanks to Dan Schroth, for all of his hard work on
completing the stone wall at the Tilton Hill Island, Jim Darrah for
mowing the Washington House and Aranosian Lots, and Mike Brewster
for his assistance. Many town residents, young and old alike, have
commented how nice it is to see these lovely plantings all around
town. With a little hard work and financial assistance from
the sponsoring businesses, miracles can happen ! Now that
these five gardens are being sponsored by local businesses, in order
to keep them looking nice, we ask that you please refrain from
placing signs of any kind in or around the garden areas. Thank
you.
Our Beautification Collection Cans have been replaced with new,
decoratively painted, hand-made wooden boxes. These boxes were
made and donated by Bob Despathy and decorated by Carolyn Hughes.
We would like to thank Bell Brother’s, Danis Market, Jack’s Pizza,
Jitters Café, and Moo-Veez Galore, for allowing us to place our
collection boxes in their establishments.
We’d like to thank all of you who participated in our Yard Sale,
over Balloon Rally Weekend, those who so generously donated items,
as well as those who purchased items. It was a successful
event. All profits will go to purchasing materials; flowers,
stone, and such, for our next improvement project, the Washington
House Lot. It was the first project for the Beautification
Committee, and now needs some serious renovation work. In
keeping with the appearance of the Island Projects, we would like to
remove the wooden timbers from around the garden area and replace
them with one of Dan Schroth’s beautiful stone walls.
Happy Labor Day Weekend to all!
