Paul Edwin Gilman
Meredith – Paul E. Gilman, 89 of Meredith, passed
away peacefully at ForestView Manor, at 5am on Sunday, September 7,
2014.
Paul was born in Woodstock, NH on August 25, 1925, the son of Fred
S. Gilman and Florence Russell Gilman. Paul was
predeceased by his first wife, Lucile Hawkins Gilman in 1957, his
second wife Shirley Ouellette in 1983, and his third wife Arlene
Bickford Gilman in 2007, in addition to two brothers, Robert and
Murray Gilman. His brother Laurence Gilman of Lincoln, NH survives
him.
Surviving children include: Paula L. Gilman of Lower Gilmanton and
her Partner, Thomie Dombrowski; Robert A. Gilman and wife Sue of
Belmont; Sheila E. Halsey of Meredith; Charon A. Pinard and husband
Raymond of Deerfield; and Charles A. Gilman and wife Jill of
Claremont, NH. He is also survived by his step-daughter, Karen
Ouellette Compton of Virginia. In addition, Paul is survived by
step-children Phyllis Russell of Laconia; Glenn Haddock of Laconia
and Beverly King of Missouri.
Paul was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews. In addition, his step-children have
their extended families.
Paul’s career as auto parts specialist led him to a successful
career as Parts Manager for Irwin Motors, Robbins Auto Parts and
Sanel Auto Parts - retiring in 1987.
However it is the way he led his life that will leave a legacy to
his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. With a smile,
a helping hand and hard work ethic one can leave the world a better
place.
We will be forever grateful to Hospice and especially to ForestView
Manor in Meredith for their tender and loving care provided to Dad
for the past 5 months.
In accordance to our Father’s wishes, there will be no calling hours
and no Church service.
A graveside service was held at Smith Meetinghouse Cemetery in
Gilmanton, Saturday, September 13th.
A luncheon to celebrate Paul’s life was served at the home of his
daughter, Paula L. Gilman, in Lower Gilmanton following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul’s memory to
Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice, 780 North Main Street, Laconia,
NH 03246.
