Meredith – Paul E. Gilman, 89 of Meredith, passed away peacefully at ForestView Manor, at 5am on Sunday, September 7, 2014.

Paul was born in Woodstock, NH on August 25, 1925, the son of Fred S. Gilman and Florence Russell Gilman.   Paul was predeceased by his first wife, Lucile Hawkins Gilman in 1957, his second wife Shirley Ouellette in 1983, and his third wife Arlene Bickford Gilman in 2007, in addition to two brothers, Robert and Murray Gilman.  His brother Laurence Gilman of Lincoln, NH survives him.

Surviving children include:  Paula L. Gilman of Lower Gilmanton and her Partner, Thomie Dombrowski; Robert A. Gilman and wife Sue of Belmont; Sheila E. Halsey of Meredith; Charon A. Pinard and husband Raymond of Deerfield; and Charles A. Gilman and wife Jill of Claremont, NH.  He is also survived by his step-daughter, Karen Ouellette Compton of Virginia.  In addition, Paul is survived by step-children Phyllis Russell of Laconia; Glenn Haddock of Laconia and Beverly King of Missouri.

Paul was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  In addition, his step-children have their extended families.

Paul’s career as auto parts specialist led him to a successful career as Parts Manager for Irwin Motors, Robbins Auto Parts and Sanel Auto Parts - retiring in 1987.

However it is the way he led his life that will leave a legacy to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  With a smile, a helping hand and hard work ethic one can leave the world a better place.

We will be forever grateful to Hospice and especially to ForestView Manor in Meredith for their tender and loving care provided to Dad for the past 5 months.

In accordance to our Father’s wishes, there will be no calling hours and no Church service.

A graveside service was held at Smith Meetinghouse Cemetery in Gilmanton, Saturday, September 13th.

A luncheon to celebrate Paul’s life was served at the home of his daughter, Paula L. Gilman, in Lower Gilmanton following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul’s memory to Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice, 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
