Drop off locations include The Gilmanton School Office at the Elementary School on Route 140; Gilmanton Town Hall at the Academy Building; Gilmanton Corner Church; as well as the Food Pantry during normal hours.  We need to receive donations by August 10th.  Your help and assistance with this worthwhile project is most appreciated.

Swimming With Angels

Even in our darkest hour, there is help to guide our way

Inspired by the relationship of twin brothers Christian and Vincent in Running With Vince, Jonathan Kuiper asks what happens years later after our loved ones die? Are things the same? Are they different? A book meant for better understanding family relationships and how to move forward from loss, Swimming With Angels focuses on pushing boundaries and being true to that inner spirit despite obstacles.

Eight years has passed since Christian’s twin brother Vincent died. Between this loss and a recent divorce, Christian now finds himself a shell of his former self, unable to move forward in his life. After a blind date that wasn’t, the two brothers reunite. Through Vincent’s prodding, Christian is forced to rediscover who he is and discover what is truly important in life. At the same time, Vincent must finally face the mistakes of his youth and figure out a way to navigate those skeletons without jeopardizing his brother’s presence and future.

This second book in the Christian Chronicles is centered on love. Whether focusing on living in the moment, making conscious decisions that will help move people forward, or embracing who we can be, not who we thought we should have been, Christian and Vincent teach us that love will continue to guide the way.

Gilmanton Food Pantry And Thrift Shop News

The Gilmanton Food Pantry and Thrift Shop would like to send a big Thank You to everyone who participated in our recent Annual Yard Sale.  Whether you donated items, worked at the sale and/or stopped by to browse and buy we thank you for helping to make the day a huge success.

During the month of August, the Thrift Shop will be featuring another bag sale.  All you can fit in a brown paper shopping bag for $5.00.  You will be surprised at how much you can put in one of those bags.  Didn’t find a whole bag full, individual items are 50% off.

The Barnstead/Gilmanton Fire Explorers Post 900 recently held a food drive.  As a result, they generously donated a big box of food items to the Food Pantry.  Thank You very much Explorers!  Good Job!

A heartfelt thank you also to Mark Sisti and his family and friends for their recent generous donations of food and money in honor of Mark’s birthday.

Our Thrift Shop has partnered with the Helping Hands Shelter in Concord, N. H.  When we have items that cannot go on our racks for sale due to tears, stains or other defects, the Shelter can salvage many of these things to help the homeless in that community.  As part of their outreach, they are in need of tents and/or tarps.  If you, or anyone you know has any tents, tarps, or other items that can assist in providing shelter, please bring them to the Thrift Shop and we will see that they are delivered.

Correspondence and/or monetary donations should be mailed to Gilmanton Food Pantry, Post Office Box 16, Gilmanton, N. H.  03237.  Our physical location remains the same at 1817 NH Route 140 in Gilmanton Iron Works, N. H.  Parking and entrance to the Shop and Pantry is available at the Gilmanton Community Church parking lot.

Hours:  Mondays, 1 – 5 pm; Wednesdays, 3 – 7 pm and Saturdays, 10 am – 2 pm.  Telephone number: 603-364-0114.

We hope to see you soon, and as always thank you for your patronage.
