The Crystal Lake Association would like to announce its Annual
Meeting to be held Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 10:00 am.. The
meeting site is located in the front entrance to the Gilmanton Iron
Works Town Hall on Route 140. The meeting generally runs
about an hour in duration. All are welcome to attend and are
encouraged to bring any topics of relevance to Crystal Lake and its
surrounding watershed.

Cemetery
A walking tour of Smith
Meetinghouse Cemetery is offered by the Gilmanton Historical Society
on Tuesday, July 22, beginning at 6 pm. All are welcome.
A number of people important in Gilmanton’s history found their
final resting place at Smith Meetinghouse Cemetery. On Tuesday,
July 22, beginning at 6 pm, Gilmanton Historical Society members
will lead a tour of the cemetery, discussing the backgrounds of
significant people buried there. Note the earlier time
for the meeting and be sure to wear good walking shoes.
Refreshments will be served after the tour. Smith
Meetinghouse Cemetery is located next to the Smith Meeting House
complex on Meetinghouse Road, off NH Route 140 north of Gilmanton
Iron Works.
The Society’s summer series is presented on the 4th
Tuesday of each month, May through September. Pat Clarke presents a
program on Herman Mudgett, Gilmanton’s most notorious resident, on
August 26th. The final program, September 23rd, addresses the
textile workers of the Amoskeag Company. For details
pick up a brochure at the Town Office and review the Society’s
exhibit on the history of Town Reports in the display cases.

The Gilmanton Historical Society offers a number of publications on
the history of the Town. They are available at all Society
programs, at the Town Clerk’s Office, and at the Brick House in
Gilmanton Corners. The Society’s Museum, at Old Town
Hall is open Saturdays from 10 am until noon, and at 7 pm before
each of the regular summer programs.
Gilmanton Old Home Day Set For Saturday, August 9
Gilmanton’s 116th Old Home Day is set for Saturday, August 9, at the
Smith Meetinghouse complex from 10 in the morning until 3 in the
afternoon.
Features include the traditional bean hole bean dinner, an antique
car show and “all things on wheels” parade, the Parker Hill Road
bluegrass band, and two puppeteer shows. Enjoy animals,
children’s games, the annual art show and of course crafts, food and
creations either edible or wearable. Everyone is invited and there
is no admission charge.
Booth locations for crafters are still available, and
volunteers are always needed to help with OHD events..
