Letter

Ovide Lamontagne is running for Governor in November. He will fight to reduce business taxes and regulations, as well as insurance mandates that are strangling our business owners and keeping them from expanding and hiring more employees.

Ovide Lamontagne is for a family friendly state. Conserving the beauty of New Hampshire so it will remain one of the best states to live in or visit is a priority. He supports school scholarships for poorer families, but is against unfunded mandates to our schools and will work to keep government out of education so it can be run at the local level.

The people of New Hampshire have great hopes for the future but we need representatives in office who share our values so they may help us succeed in making our dreams come true. Go to www.Ovide2012.com to read more about Ovide Lamontagne and how he will help make our dreams come true.

Vote for Ovide Lamontagne for Governor on September 11, 2012 in the Primaries and again on November 6, 2012 and see what it really means to live free or die.

Gilmanton Education Association/School Board Contract Agreement

The Gilmanton School Board and the Gilmanton Education Association are pleased to announce that they have ratified a new teacher contract agreement. During the last Annual School District Meeting, the School District budget passed, but the Teacher Contract portion did not. Citizens granted a Special School District Meeting in order to reconsider another Teacher Contract proposal should a ratified agreement be reached between the School Board and the Gilmanton Education Association. An agreement has since been reached.

The contract proposal is for two years covering 2012-2014. Due to the current economic constraints, teachers have agreed to continue the current salary schedule for the next two years. The new agreement respects the wishes of the voting body present at the March Annual Meeting in that there will be no raises; a 0% increase ($0), in Year 1 (2012-2013) of the new contract. Year 2 (2013-2014) provides compensation for professional experience and longevity only. This second year represents a 2.08% ($40,349) increase over the 2012-2013 teacher salary budget.

Language changes were made to the current contract to bring it into compliance with the new state legislation (SB 196). This includes Reduction in Force and Teacher Tenure. Specific contract language was added to clarify that Gilmanton Teachers do not have an Evergreen Clause in their contract.

Because Senate Bill 2 (Official Ballot Referendum) was voted in during the last Annual School District Meeting, there will be a Deliberative Session and a separate Voting by Ballot Session. At the Deliberative Session, which will take place at the Gilmanton School on August 14, 2012 at 6:00 pm, the School Board will present the new warrant article to the public.

In an attempt to reduce costs to the town, the School Board arranged the Voting by Ballot Session to take place on September 11, 2012 at the polls in conjunction with the Primary voting that will take place on that same day. Polls will be open at the Gilmanton Town Hall – Academy Building from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on September 11, 2012.

Both the School Board and the Gilmanton Teacher Association worked hard over many months to reach this fair and equitable agreement. This agreement attempts to keep the taxpayers’ needs in mind and will help keep and attract high quality teachers.

District residents will be the final arbitrators of the contract on September 11th and both the School Board and Gilmanton Teachers Association are hoping for support at the polls for its passage.
