Dear Gilmanton residents:
My name is Brett Currier and I am a candidate for the position of
Selectman. I have lived in Gilmanton for over 30 years; my wife
Brenda is 8th generation in our Town and we have raised three
children here. For the last 26 years I have owned a Construction
business in Gilmanton.
I have attended countless meetings where I was the only resident
present. I attend because I am concerned about Gilmanton’s future.
For years I have been a regular attendee of Selectmen’s meetings;
also attending Planning Board, ZBA, and Budget meetings. I’ve been
to almost all Town Meetings since becoming a resident. I attend
these meetings so I’m aware of what’s going on in our community. I
am very concerned with the rate our taxes have been climbing. If we
don’t find a workable solution, many of our residents will not be
able to afford to live here.
I feel that I am the most knowledgeable of all the candidates due to
my continued involvement at meetings. I am well versed in where the
Planning Board is heading as well as being up to date with our
Zoning regulations and codes. I have always prided myself in looking
at Department Budgets and being able to see where cuts can be made
without losing services or jobs. I feel common sense goes a long way
in my decision making.
I would very much appreciate you casting your Vote For Brett
Currier on Tuesday, March 13th, 2012. If you cannot get out,
please call the Town Clerk to request an absentee ballot. Your
support will be greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions or concerns you would like to discuss with
me, please call me at 267-8570 or 387-0667.
Sincerely,
Brett Currier

In 2011, when SB2 was before the residents of Gilmanton, our entire
School Board signed and mailed a letter to the taxpayers opposing
this issue.
At the 02/07/2012 Gilmanton School Board meeting a citizen asked
about the 2011 letter and stated he heard it was illegal for the
School Board to send it. Superintendent Fauci replied by saying that
all costs for that letter were donated by the public and no taxpayer
monies were used to produce or mail it. He also stated that he
possessed receipts for all the costs incurred. Could the
Superintendent’s Office be complicit in violating RSA 659:44-a?
According to New Hampshire State Law, RSA 659:44-a, it is stated;"
no public employee shall electioneer while in the performance of his
or her official duties designed to influence the vote of a voter on
any question or office. Any person who violates this section shall
be guilty of a misdemeanor". In addition, according to RSA 273-A:1,
"Board of the public employer" means the executive body of the
public employer, such as the city council, board of selectmen, the
School Board or the county commissioners.
In short, the School Board may not specifically oppose or endorse
any issue or candidate….period! That’s what the law states and
nowhere does it state that the Gilmanton School Board is exempt.
It’s time for the games to stop. The work of our school’s governing
body is to do the job they were elected to do and let the town
decide if they want SB2 without coercion from the Board.
Vote "yes" for SB 2 on March 13th! You can’t afford not to!

100 voters turned out for the Deliberative Session in Wolfeboro;
reference Union Leader 2/8/12.
Supporters of SB2 for Gilmanton always state that it is a more
democratic way, that voters will show up for the deliberative
sessions. They do not. The Selectmen have worked for weeks on this
budget. The Budget Committee has also spent a considerable amount of
time, all in public session. Plenty of time for a voter to
understand the issues.
The present budget process and Town Meeting work for the Town of
Gilmanton. Vote No on SB2.
Sincerely,
Sandra Guarino

Re: Is Superintendent’s office complicit in violating election laws?
My thanks to Roger Ball for his letter following up on the
discussion at the 2/7 School Board meeting about illegal actions by
the School Board pertaining to SB2. The School Board’s letter in
2011 urging voters to vote against SB2 was illegal and constituted
electioneering based on the RSAs that Roger cited. The
Superintendent’s comments make it seem that he was the leader of
that action. It also seems that the Superintendent is in charge and
not the School Board. I hope the citizens of Gilmanton are paying
attention and will require their School Board to be responsible.

Electioneering by the Gilmanton School Board
There was a discussion at the School Board Meeting that was held on
2/7/12, concerning SB2 for the Gilmanton School District. I brought
up the issue of a letter that the School Board sent out the last
time that SB2 was on the Ballot. Superintendent Fauci answered by
stating that the letter was privately funded and that he could
provide receipts for cost of stamps, paper, etc. That answer should
have come from the School Board and not from the Superintendent.
However, that is not what made the letter illegal. It was illegal
because it constituted electioneering according to RSA 659:44-A.
This information was also cited by Roger Ball in his letter to the
Editor, published on 2/9/12, where he quoted the same RSA.
The School Board signed and mailed this letter to the voters and
they should have known that it was illegal for them to do so.
Watch your mailbox; they may be doing the same this year.

I’m so very excited that Tony Botten is running for Gilmanton Road
Agent in the March elections! Our families have been friends since
they moved to Gilmanton eight years ago and his knowledge of the
town will be, as it’s been in the past, an asset. Our children are
friends and I know he is well known and trusted throughout the town.
Tony is respectful, honest and hard working. He offers a helping
hand whenever needed and can be counted on in an emergency! I trust
his judgment and his many years of experience will guide him in
maintaining our roads in the most attentive, efficient, and cost
effective manner possible.
