Gilmanton Students Give Back To The Community
On February 21st the Gilmanton Students gathered together for their
President’s Day assembly. The students had spent two weeks learning
about the presidents on all of the coins. Each wing in the school had
its own coin to learn about and collect. They understood that whatever
was collected would be going to a worthy cause.
At the end of the two weeks each class then gathered all of their coins
and counted them. All of the collected coins were then gathered
together to get a grand total. At the conclusion of the assembly the
coins were then presented to the Gilmanton Food Pantry. Jane Sisti was
on hand to receive the donated amount of $290.82. The students not
only learned about a holiday, they learned what it felt like to give to a
worthy cause.
The
Roberts/Barr/Humphrey family and the Gilmanton Year Round Library would like
to thank everyone involved in making the reception for the “Three
Generations of Hand Hooked Rugs Exhibit” held on Saturday, March 5th, a
rousing success. It truly exceeded our expectations. A huge thank you to
Meredith Village Savings Bank for making a $1,000 donation to sponsor the
exhibit, which will run until the end of April.
Over 120 people filled the library, including several rug hooking guild
members. The exhibit also brought in many folks (in town and out of
town) who had not previously taken the opportunity to visit. Delicious
treats were prepared by Carolyn Dickey, Carmel Roberts, Cindy Hatch, Holly
O’Shea, Laura Latici, Liz Bedard and Simone Lord (Simone’s Treats at the
Iron Works Store).
Please make it a point to enter the free contest, sponsored by Doug Towle.
The winner will have $500 donated to the library in his name. In
addition, two rugs, designed and hooked by Dick Barr to benefit the library
will be raffled (3 for $5.00 or 7 for $10.00) or silent auctioned off on
April 30th! Don’t miss out on this fabulous fundraiser to support the
library and see this one of a kind exhibit.
