Letter

A Message To Gilmanton Voters:
I was not able to file as a delegate to the State Republican Convention in June because I was in the hospital.

I have faithfully attended these conventions and felt that I was representing Gilmanton.

I would appreciate a write-in vote at the GOP Primary on September 14.

Thank you.
Danny Webster

Lower Gilmanton First Baptist Church Society

The Lower Gilmanton First Baptist Church, the white church that overlooks Lower Gilmanton from the brow of the hill on Province Road, Route 107, has concluded its series of Sunday evening services. We want to graciously thank Pastor Chris Stevens of the Gilmanton Community Church, Pastor Linda Bolton, Reverend Alfred Page, and accompanist Reverend Henry Frost of the Loudon Free Will Baptist Church sharing with us their gifts of faith in words and music. Also a big thank you goes out to the Lower Gilmanton Community Club and parishioners for their contribution of refreshments and flowers throughout the summer. The four Sunday evening services were enjoyed by all.

A fall Work Bee has been tentatively scheduled for October 16th with a rain date of October 17th. Walking the Church property lines and general Church maintenance is the focus.

Culinary Mystery Months And Banned Book Week At The Gilmanton Corner Library

Its that time of year again when solving crime can be a sweet treat at the Gilmanton Corner Library.  “Culinary Mystery Months” is our annual celebration for gourmet detectives. For each week for the months of September and October a different culinary mystery author, book, recipe and sweet treat from the author’s book will be displayed at the Corner Library. This year we are happy to offer Lorna Barrettes’ mystery books about solving crime in a small New Hampshire town, “Bookmarked For Death” and “Murder is Binding” along with many other culinary mystery authors and their delicious recipes.

The Gilmanton Corner Library will be supporting the 27th annual Banned Book Week: “Celebrating the Freedom To Read” September 25 to October 2. The books featured during Banned Book Week have been targets of attempted bannings.
