Dear Editor,
I would like to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude
to everyone involved in bringing Gilmanton the Year Round Library. The
Gilmanton Year Round Library is a wonderful place for everyone. My son loves
to read and it is so expensive to buy new books. We are able to check out
books and DVD’s and even borrow books through the inter-library loan
program.
The library has so much to offer families with small children - with
their story hours and children’s librarian scheduling lots of fun
activities. It is a cozy place to catch up on a good book or check your
email while your children play with the puzzles, read, color a picture or
enjoy any of the other countless activities they have to offer.
I hope everyone can take some time to check out the new library and take
advantage of everything there is available. We love it and we know you will
too!! See you there!

Unusual Offerings at the Gilmanton Year-Round Library
Scrooge & Marley
The Gilmanton Year-Round Library has joined the Scrooge & Marley Library
Coop. Scrooge & Marley has more than 24 library members around central New
Hampshire, from Franklin to Plymouth to Moultonborough. Local library
members include Belmont, Gilford, Laconia, and Tilton.
The GYRL has also joined the Scrooge & Marley DVD Coop. By joining the
library will receive about 25 DVDs every two months on a revolving schedule.
The films, which will be available for loan in the January-February
schedule, include such films as Appoaloossa, Babbette’s Feast, Gosford
Park, Lion in Winter, Master and Commander, No Country for Old Men, Sophie’s
Choice, and Waking Ned Devine. Each film will circulate for one week.
Kill-A-Watt Energy Detector
The Gilmanton Year-Round Library has four Kill-A-Watt Energy detectors
for loan, free of charge, for two weeks each. as part of the Cut the Carbon
campaign. This campaign of energy solutions for New Hampshire is
sponsored by nhsaves, a partnership of the New Hampshire State Library,
Public Service of New Hampshire, nationalgrid, New Hampshire Electric Co-op,
and Unitil.
In addition to the Kill-A-Watt meter a energy tips brochure, book mark,
instruction sheet, and survey postcard is included in each checkout.
Tom-Tom
The Gilmanton Year-Round Library has received a donation of a Tom-Tom
portable GPS car navigation system. Library cardholders may borrow the
Tom-Tom (instructions included), free of charge for up to two weeks.
