Gilmanton Fire Department News

On Tuesday August 4, 2009, at 4:47 PM, the Gilmanton Fire Department with automatic response departments were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 39 White Oak Road.

At 4:50 PM Engine One arrived on the scene and reported smoke showing from the rear of a single family, two and one half story, wood frame structure, with neighbors reporting the occupants in the structure. The crew on Engine One immediately requested a first alarm assignment bringing in mutual aid from four neighboring departments.

At 4:57 PM a second alarm assignment was requested due to the weather conditions and a lack of manpower on scene.

At 5:48 PM the fire was placed under control and the location of the occupants was confirmed. There were no injuries to either civilians or firefighters. The estimated damage to the home is approximately $175,000.00. The structure is uninhabitable and the family of six has made arrangements to stay elsewhere. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and is being investigated by the Gilmanton Fire Department, Gilmanton Police Department and the NH Fire Marshall’s Office.

The Gilmanton Fire and Police Departments were assisted at the scene by the Alton Fire Department, Belmont Fire Department, Barnstead Fire Rescue, Gilford Fire Rescue, Laconia Fire Department, New Durham Fire Department, Loudon Fire Department, Tilton-Northfield Fire and EMS, NH State Police. The Pittsfield Fire Department covered the Gilmanton Fire Department.
