Gilmanton Community Church

Submitted By Linda Bolton
The Gilmanton Community Church invites you to join us for worship, to participate in one of our four adult Bible studies, to enroll your children and teenagers in our excellent Christian Educational programs, or to participate in any one of our other activities in which you are interested! Newcomers are always welcome.

For the months of October and November we will be worshiping at the Iron Works Church. Church classes for ages 3 through senior high are held at 9:10 a.m and our adult class begins at 9:15 a.m. Worship is at 10:30 a.m.

Our final Community Dinner for this year will be on Saturday, October 18 from 5 to 6:30 at our Corner Church. The menu includes our greatly enjoyed “Pot Roast and all the Fixings”! As always we will be having our famous Dessert Table. Following your dinner we invite you to travel upstairs for a great fun time of singing many favorite songs as the “Melody Makers” share the joy of music with us.

The cost will be $9 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for ages 12 and under with a family rate (parent/s and their children under 20) of $25.

We thank everybody who is so generously supporting our Community Food Pantry! On Sunday we completed a 5-mile walk from S.M.H. to Stone Road, Burke Road, and along Stage Road to the I.W. Church. Many people donated food to support the 25 walkers who cleaned the roadside as we traveled. We picked up a truck-load of trash! Following our walk about 40 people enjoyed a most delicious spaghetti dinner coordinated by Sharon Barton and topped off the day with the most scrumptious homemade apple pies - thank you Beth Lavin! Brenda McBride provided our trash bags and so much of what we gathered is able to be recycled! We thank Brenda, our Mission Team that sponsored the walk and all those who donated food in support!

Our October Senior Dinner will be held Tuesday the 21st at the Corner Church, Noontime. The menu is: homemade Macaroni and Cheese, Kayem Hot Dogs, Salad Bar, Peas, Rolls and Delicious Desserts! This is a great time and we are blessed to host these opportunities for fun and fellowship! You are only a newcomer once! We invite you to come!

If you are tired of the  “bad news” you hear every day come and hear the Good News!
We are a lively congregation comprised of people of all ages. Our worship services are full of joy, prayer, music, and God’s word is preached and lived out in our daily lives! We have a great Women’s Fellowship, and Men’s Fellowship. Children and youth are a blessed part of our all that we do. We serve God and our community, thankful for the opportunity to be of service wherever needed!

This year we have celebrated the joy of welcoming 11 new members (5 through Believer’s Baptism)! Our Community Food Pantry is a joy and a blessing. If you have need for clothing we do have a Clothes Closet which is open on occasion. Please call the church office for more information. Our Senior Dinners and Community Dinners have been delightfully well received! Our Vacation Bible Camp was a great time of fun and learning for all who attended! We are thankful for Pam Jansury’s leading and all who volunteered and made this summer event an excellent success! We again enjoyed the excitement of Bruce Locke’s team of horses hosting great hay-rides on Rally Day as well as games, good food and much laughter! We have been greatly blessed to be able to give scholarships of $1,400.00 for 6 people continuing their education.

Our Website, www.gilmantoncommunitychurch.org is full of good information about us and our current programs. Our e-mail address is: [email protected].
Remember - tired of “Bad News” ... Join us for the “Good News.”

Harvest Church Service At The First Congregational Church

On October 19, 2008, at 4:00 p.m., the First Congregational Church in Gilmanton, also known as the Smith Meeting House, welcomes all denominations to the “Harvest” church service. The Reverend Sidney Lovett of Holderness, NH, will officiate. His message is titled “Fruit and Patience”. The soloist will be Jane Cormier, Jane is the Founder/Director of Lakes Region Opera Company and teaches Vocal Instruction at Brewster Academy. The Lakes Region Chorus will also be part of the service. Following the service light refreshments will be served downstairs.

Now that the summer services are over, we will be embarking on our Fall and Winter services. Many families, in Gilmanton and the surrounding towns, attend their own places of worship, on Sunday mornings. We have planned our services in the late afternoon, once a month, so we might all join together as a community to share our faith and friendships. The Smith Meeting House is the oldest church, in Gilmanton and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
