We are going into the
archives for the movie matinee on Wednesday the 7th at 1:30 at
the Epsom Library. “Finding Forrester” was released several
years ago but the story resonates today. Jamal Wallace is a
16-year-old basketball player in New York City whose secret passion
is writing. William Forrester, played by Sean Connery, is a
reclusive Pulitzer Prize winning novelist who never released a
second novel. The two meet accidentally and Forrester becomes
James’ unlikely mentor helping develop his writing skills. An
apt student, Jamal is accused of plagiarism in the school’s writing
contest and the two learn lessons from each other and about
life and the value of friendship.
Letter
Dear School Board
Members,
One of the parents after
the last meeting had asked about a school board’s charge, and what
their responsibility is to the school. I decided to look it up
online and found the NH School Board Association and wanted to bring
this to your attention: “Schools exist to provide appropriate
educational opportunities for our children. With this in mind it is
vital to maintain the principle that all board decisions and actions
of individual board members should be prioritized by what is best
for students and what enhances student achievement.” Please also see
the full link for your own reference -
https://www.nhsba.org/governanceroles.asp.
Hopefully you will take
your responsibility for “prioritizing what’s best for the students
and what enhances student achievement” into consideration when you
cast your vote for Full Day Kindergarten next week. If you have any
specific questions about the benefits of Full Day Kindergarten in
Epsom, I hope you will take the time to speak with the
superintendent, principal or elementary school teacher yourself.
Thank you.
