On Wednesday, January 17
at 1:30 the Epsom Library will be showing the film “Victoria and
Abdul.” Starring Academy Award winner Judi Dench as Queen
Victoria, the film tells the extraordinary true story of an
unexpected friendship in the later years of her reign. When a
young clerk travels from India to participate in the Queen’s Golden
Jubilee he is surprised to forge an unlikely alliance with Her
Majesty. The friendship deepens and the Queen sees the world
changing through new eyes and happily reclaims her humanity.
Congratulations to Lila
Bradley of Epsom, a member of the Colby-Sawyer College class of
2020, majoring in public health, for making the fall semester Dean’s
List. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must achieve a
grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while carrying a
minimum of 12 credit hours in graded courses.

Library: Emily Moore’s Art Exhibit With A Conscience
The Epsom Public Library
is pleased to present an exhibit which vividly captures the ongoing
journey of expression of Deerfield artist, Emily Moore. The
show is about color. Flowers. Gardens…and a whole set of
quietly abstract pastels not yet publicly exhibited. It
presents a feast for the senses of its viewers as well as a ray of
hope for many who will never see these paintings. After an
eye-opening opportunity to work with Syrian refugees in Greece in
2016, the artist, who works primarily in oils, has decided to make
four of her paintings available as note cards, with 2/3 of the sale
price going to refugees worldwide through a donation to the
International Rescue Committee. Additionally, the IRC will
receive 20% of the sales of paintings and framed prints at the
exhibit.
The exhibit runs from
January 20 to March 3, and may be viewed during regular library
hours: Monday – Thursday, 10 am to 7 pm, and Saturday, 9 am to
1 pm. The public is cordially invited to meet the artist at an
opening reception on Saturday, January 20, from 10 am to 1 pm.

Obituaries
Carole Flanders
Carole Flanders, 75 of
Epsom, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 5, 2018 at her
residence.
Born on February 14, 1942
she was the daughter of the late Gus and Helen (Bednarzyk)
Santinelli.
Carole enjoyed cooking,
camping and trips to Maine, she also enjoyed spending time with her
great grandchildren, she was also known for spoiling her dog Buddy.
Carole is survived by her
husband of 31 years, Roger Flanders of Epsom, her children, Suzanne
Troyer and her husband Ron of Alton, Brenda Kelley and her husband
Ray of Barnstead, Stanley Williams and his fiancé Susan Bailey of
Hopkinton, Bette Pinto and her husband Gregory of W. Stewardstown
and Walter Williams and his wife Shainna of Colebrook, a
step-daughter, Stephanie Flanders and her fiancé Dustin Morman of
Wilson, NC, 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life
will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family.
