Epsom Food Pantry
Well, good evening. I
just finished watching the nightly news and we must all count our
blessings that we are safe. The folks in Texas and Louisiana are
going through probably the most devastating time in their lives. Our
thoughts and prayers are with them.
Busy week. We saw lots of
members and they told me how much they enjoy the fresh veggies and,
like us, are so grateful to our town veggie farmers who kept us
supplied.
I would like to thank
Sandy from our Natural Food Store on Black Hall Road (where the town
office used to be) for her weekly contribution of fresh milk to the
Pantry, and to the lovely lady who brought us duck eggs that were
just wonderful.
I want to tell you about
our friend, Charlie Bateman, who is trying to save the world. The
hungry kids are top on his list, so he had a lemonade stand at the
balloon rally, and with the money he made, he went shopping and
brought us a box full of food for “hungry kids.” P.S. He has three
other worthy causes. That is an example of our fine young people in
Epsom.
Until next time,
Priscilla
Epsom Library News
A United Kingdom is the
film that will be shown at the Epsom Public Library on Wednesday,
September 13 at 1:30 PM. Based on a true story, it tells of the
forbidden love between the king of Botswana and a white English
woman in the 1940s just as apartheid was introduced into South
Africa. Their decision to marry caused an international uproar but
their determination changed the course of African history.
The film Megan Leavey
will be shown on Tuesday, September 19 at 1:30. Please note the
change in day. Megan was a Marine Corporal whose discipline and
bond with her military combat dog saved many lives during their
deployment in Iraq. This is based on the true life story.
Tuesday evening,
September 19 at 7:00 pm, the library will be hosting author Mark
Okrant who will discuss his latest book, Death by Lobster. The
author of nine books both fiction and non-fiction, Mr. Okrant is a
professor emeritus at Plymouth State University. His mysteries are
all based on famous grand hotels and historic resort communities in
New England. This latest book takes place in Ogunquit, Maine where
dead bodies mar the seaside landscape. The main character, Kary
Turnell, works beside his wife and partner to head off a possible
killing spree that threatens the community’s summer tourism season.
