Public Library
The Epsom Public Library has received a grant from the New Hampshire
Humanities Council to present “Dissent Among the Puritans” on
Wednesday, November 6 at 7 PM given by Linda Palmer.
Ms. Palmer will reenact the character of Ann Vassall, wife of
William Vassall of Essex, England, one of the founders of the
Massachusetts Bay Company. She will take you back to the year
1637 welcoming you to your new home in the bay. Her words of
advice and narration of events going on in town might make you wish
you had stayed in England or you might look forward to New Hampshire
as a place of settlement. This living history program
chronicles the dissent among fellow puritans after they reached
Massachusetts, focusing on the anger directed at William Vassall,
Ann’s husband, who was despised by minister and magistrate alike for
his liberal ideas about civil liberty and religion.
Linda Palmer earned her MA in Teaching at Indiana University. Her
fascination with the early settlers of New England resulted in a
walking tour of the 17th century Boston called “Where Did the
Puritans Go?” She has performed her Ann Vassall monologue at many
Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire venues.
This program is free and open to the pubic.
Refreshments will be served. For more information, contact the
Epsom Public Library at 736-9220 or e-mail

Wake Up Seniors And Citizens Before It’s Too Late.
The President took $716 Billion out of Medicare and put it into
Obamacare. From what I have seen, heard, and read it appears to be
the following:
• Restrict seniors’ access to care in order to cut costs
• Raises taxes on prescription drug makers
• Medicare Advantage plan will be cut
• Seniors will pay more
There will be no cataract surgery, hip replacements, knee
replacements, physical rehab, preventive medicine, breast and
cervical exams, help for congestive heart failure or strokes, many
months to see a Dr. and live in excruciating pain. Why? We are too
old. He wants us to hurry up and die.
Obama allowed four Americans to be killed. They pleaded for more
security and Obama refused. Obama called these 4 deaths “not
optimal.” (Precious lives discarded as though they were trash). Do
you want to be next? It was more important for him to campaign in
Las Vegas and be on talk shows. Our president lied to us about Libya
and he is still lying.
Obama wants America to be a 3rd World Country. He wants us to live
in filth and be equal to the poverty in India, Indonesia, and
Africa, etc. He blames America for being a super power and for
causing their poverty and he wants to bring America down to the
level of extinction. He will bankrupt this country.
Are you going to let him do this to America? Save America. Vote
Republican. We can’t have four more years of this. If you vote Obama
back in, you will never see the America as it was and you’ll never
see the American Dream because it will be nothing but a nightmare
for us, our children and our grandchildren.
God Bless America,
Herbert Bartlett

Asking For Your Vote
I am asking for your vote when you go to the polls November 6. Among
my main concerns: I will be standing for excellent educational
opportunities for all; for residential property tax relief; for
reproductive rights of women.
I will be standing against the libertarian, branded tea-partiers,
so-called “free staters” who are trying to take over New Hampshire’s
political process for their own selfishness. I will stand against
the “Right To Work for Less.” I will stand against the State
Legislature downshifting even more costs onto local property
taxpayers.
I am asking for your vote. Thank you.

Epsom Central School Staff and Faculty
Mr. Kenneth Baxter, Middle School Math Teacher
Ken has taught for five years at ECS. He is often the first person
to arrive at school and the last to leave. Ken is one of the two
Math teachers for the 5th and 8th grades. When not actually in a
classroom, Ken spends his time planning, studying, or working with
kids one-on-one. Ken received a BA in Fine Arts at UMass Boston and
an MS in Special Education at Boston State with a specialty in
remedial math. After graduation, he taught for five years in
Franklin, NH and for 16 years in Maine before coming to ECS.
His extracurricular activities include the Drama Club, Music
Program, and running the Math-a-thon, a fundraising program that
supports St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The program includes
a math supplement for grades K-8 that students complete while
raising funds for St. Jude.
Ken likes everything about ECS, particularly working with the
students and staff. He finds the support from parents and
administration exceptional; better than anyplace he’s taught. He
would recommend to parents that they prioritize developing wisdom in
their children, as well as character building and academic skills.
Ken lives in Epsom with his wife and two children. He enjoys riding
his bike, playing golf, listening to music, and working on his home.
Ken is a veteran of the Silent Service, having worked in sonar on
both diesel and nuclear submarines. He would advise parents to spend
as much time with their children as possible since they grow up
quickly.
“Glorification Singers” To Celebrate Two
Worship Services
At New Rye Church
The New Rye Church congregation is very blessed and honored to have
the Glorification Singers with us for two worship services over the
weekend of November 3rd and 4th.
The Saturday (11/3) service will begin at 7 pm at the church and
will be conducted completely by the Singers. The Singers will then
be the major portion of the Sunday morning worship services, which
begin at 10 am (change your clocks – Daylight Savings ends that
day!)
The Glorification Singers were born years ago when individual
Christian musicians came together to “spread the Word of God through
music.” The group, as it exists today, has been together since 1990.
In a style reminiscent of the “Gaither Gospel Hour,” the Singers
spread the good news of God’s love in four ways – the Word in
scripture, testimony of what God has done in their lives, prayer
(including prayer with individual members of the congregation if
requested) and, of course, in song, including sing-alongs.
Both worship services will be held at New Rye Church, which is
located at 289 New Rye Road in Epsom, and the public is cordially
invited to attend. The Singers come to worship and minister, not to
perform, so there is no admission charge. A love offering will be
collected at each worship service, however, to support the
continuing ministry of the Glorification Singers.

To our constituents in Allenstown, Epsom, and Pittsfield:
We’re running for re-election to the state legislature, Dan from the
Epsom/Pittsfield district, and Carol from the new floterial district
that includes Allenstown, Epsom, and Pittsfield. So we’re in
different places on the ballot, with different opponents.
If elected, Carol will continue to regularly write these letters to
the editor, reporting on what’s happening in Concord behind the
headlines. More details are available in her email newsletter; if
you’re interested she will gladly add you to the distribution list.
We promise to listen respectfully to our constituents, and read all
the letters and emails you send us, on any issue of importance to
you. We both have learned a great deal from your letters and calls,
on an amazing range of issues, and need your information and
experience to guide our votes. A number of constituents have
suggested legislation for the coming session, and we welcome your
ideas up to the deadline, at the end of November.
We request your votes on November 6, so that we can continue to
serve you, our neighbors and friends.

New Rye Church Celebrates Ladies Aid Appreciation Sunday
New Rye Ladies Aid with Rev. Jim Young
On Sunday, October 21st, New Rye Church celebrated Ladies Aid
Appreciation Sunday to thank and honor the Ladies Aid for their long
and continuing service to the church and community.
When the current church building was erected in 1861, the Ladies
Sewing Circle (renamed the Ladies Aid in 1909) purchased a stained
glass window that still adorns the entry to the church and, most
recently, the group donated four new windows for the parish hall.
During the many intervening years, this group has consistently
raised money to contribute to the needs of the church and community.
The New Rye Ladies Aid continues to make quilts that are distributed
to children at the Shriners Children’s Hospital and holds a yearly
raffle for a hand-made quilt, among other fund-raising projects..
The church expressed its gratitude in a special tribute during the
worship service and a luncheon following the service. The church
recognizes this wonderful group of women as a special gift, a
sentiment that was expressed in the scripture placed on the cake
dedicated to them – “They gave themselves first to the Lord and then
through the will of God to us."
The New Rye Ladies Aid is open to all women in the community and
welcomes newcomers and “drop-ins” as well! On the first and third
Wednesday of the month, the group holds a social/craft gathering at
New Rye Church at 11 am where women bring their own crafts (and
lunch) to work on while enjoying the company of other craft-minded
neighbors and friends. On the second Wednesday of the month, the
Ladies Aid goes out for lunch to a local restaurant and on the
fourth Wednesday, the monthly business meeting is held at the church
at 11 am, after which the group has lunch (bring your own) and works
on group craft projects/quilts.
