Loudon Food Pantry News

No Choice!

We have to stop, but we really don’t want to…

Due to space concerns, we no longer accept clothing or household donations. We only accept funds, food, pet food, oral hygiene products, feminine hygiene products, personal hygiene products, toilet paper/paper towels, and cleaning products.

This hold on our Clothing and Household Programs will remain in effect until we are able to obtain a larger facility within Loudon. Unfortunately, this hold also pertains to the "Holiday Giveaway" that we have each year the week before Christmas. During this giveaway, patrons were able to do last minute shopping for toys, clothing and household items that could be used for holiday gifts. Sorry patrons!

So please, if anyone knows of a larger facility anywhere in Loudon, call 724-9731 and let us know!

50/50 Raffle

We are holding another 50/50 raffle. Raffle start date is November 1, 2011 and ends December 15, 2011. Tickets are 50¢ each; $2.00 for 5 or $3.00 for 10. You can purchase your tickets at the pantry located at 30 Chichester Rd., Loudon, on Mon., Tue., or Thu. from 10 – 5 or Wed. from 10 – 6. Also, an order form will be on our website www.LoudonFoodPantry.org.

Thanksgiving Box Time

It’s that time of the year again! Last year we handed out 122 Thanksgiving Boxes. The boxes were fresh fruit, fresh vegetables as well as all the Thanksgiving Dinner fixings. The economy hasn’t gotten any better, so we expect to hand out even more this year.

Anyone who is a patron of Loudon Food Pantry, is eligible for a Thanksgiving Box. All they have to do is complete our application form. These forms will be available during the month of October. If you come in after that date to sign up, there will be no guarantee that we will have enough food to fill your order. Please sign up early so we know how much food we need to have on hand. We will be handing out Thanksgiving Boxes the week of November 14th.

Food Drives

Are you planning a food drive for us? Please call (603) 724-9731 and let us know. We are servicing five towns out of three rooms and handing out food Monday – Thursday. Letting us know in advance will allow us to be prepared to receive it — even if it’s on a Friday or Saturday.

Donations Needed

August and September are the hardest months for us. Funding and food donations are at an all time low. Food donations are great and are very much needed. But due to space concerns, we are currently in need of funds more than ever. Having funds allows us to purchase food that is needed and to pay our operating costs as well.

In 2010 we gave out enough food for 69,885 meals. In 2011 we have already given out enough food for 38,554. We are entering in our busiest months (the last quarter of the year) and our projections are telling us that our total for this year will be around 77,647. That leaves us a difference of about 39,093.

Please donate funds and food and help us make it through the remainder of 2011. With your help, we can make this holiday season a success.

Donation and Contact Information

If you can help, please mail or drop off donations at Loudon Food Pantry, 30 Chichester Rd., Unit D, Loudon, NH anytime Mon. Tue., and Thu., between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm or Wed., between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. Please make checks payable to Loudon Food Pantry. If you cannot make it during these times, please call (603) 724-9731 to make alternate arrangements.

The Yellow Submarine Helps Loudon Food Pantry with its Help Once, Help Twice Campaign.

Help Once - Donate $25 or five food items that are unopened and not expired and receive a discount card for 10% off your order at The Yellow Submarine

Help Twice - Present your discount card on the first Sunday of any month at The Yellow Submarine on Loudon Rd., Concord and the amount you save is donated to Loudon Food Pantry.

Thank You

Running a food pantry isn’t easy. But by doing so, we get to help people who need it and also meet people willing to help! For us, it’s win-win. We couldn’t make this work without the help of our volunteers. Thank you!

Jacks_Bear_2011_004.JPG

Congratulations to Jackson Riel of Epsom who harvested his first bear weighing in at 297 lbs. in Bethlehem NH. This bear had quite a rap sheet of being a nuisance according to the Fish and Game. The bear had initially been tagged by Fish & Game in 2009 and was tagged and fitted with GPS/VHF radio collar for studying. There has only been one other heavier bear at (305 lbs) taken to date this year. Congrats Jackson!!

Hypnotherapy Workshop

Life is full of issues that can create anxiety, stress and worry. Challenging parenting situations, hectic and demanding careers, relationship issues, and financial problems are just a few of the circumstances that can take a toll on one’s mind and body.

On Wednesday, October 5, at 7:00 pm, Jennifer Yeaton-Parris will present a class on hypnotherapy to relieve stress.

"Hypnosis can help you to avoid worry and anxiety," Ms. Yeaton said, "And aid in dealing more easily and efficiently with whatever life throws our way."

Unlike a stage show where silly tricks are performed for audience members, hypnotherapy uses positive suggestions, while you are in a relaxed stage, to make positive changes in your life.

Ms. Yeaton-Parris is a certified hypnotherapist as well as a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists. She provides individual and group hypnosis sessions at the Innate in You, LLC in Pittsfield.

Come learn how hypnosis can help you use 100 percent of your brain to create a stress-free environment for a happier, healthier you, and experience a session firsthand specifically to relieve stress.
