What’s
New At Curves, Epsom?
Ladies, if you haven’t been into the Curves
located at the Epsom circle lately, you’ve been missing a lot!
Beginning in January, we added the widely popular Zumba workout to
our circuit. Zumba is a combination of Latin aerobic dance
moves that keep the workout fun and effective burning nearly 900
calories per hour! We have combined this with the strength
training of our Curves circuit machines to give you a total body
workout in the same 30 minutes as our regular circuit workout.
Our Zumba classes were only available to our current members until
Now*. We offer classes Monday - Thursday, please feel free to
call us at 736-9903 or drop by for more information and class times.
In addition, for almost three years now, we have had a Licensed
massage Therapist On-Site! Deborah Sargent of Epsom, offers a
variety of massage options at unbeatable prices to not only the
women of our club but to the general public as well (yes, including
men too). Deborah offers Swedish massage, deep tissue, hot
stone, and reflexology just to name a few, call her directly at
496-2528 or you can reach her at our Curves number listed above for
more information about her services.
And yes, there is more...we
are working on adding another fun class to our schedule to fill our
Friday night spot, this will not be a Zumba or circuit Zumba class
but just as fun and effective, more details will be available very
soon.
If you would like more information on joining or would like
to stop by to look around our club, please feel free, we are located
right at the Epsom circle in the Epsom shoppes plaza.
*Note:
Non-Members will be allowed to do the Zumba class only, not the
Curves circuit with Zumba. Only properly trained members are
allowed to use our strength training machines.

To my constituents in Allenstown, Epsom and Pittsfield: This
week, we had another session that was longer than it should have
been. I got in late, since I’d been visiting my mother in
Connecticut, and missed the first votes on SB3, the comprehensive
pension reform bill. It passed and is in negotiations with the
Senate. The House concurred with the Senate amendment to HB474, the
right to work bill, 225-140, with Tony Soltani opposed and the rest
of us voting for it.
SB160, on installment loans, would allow and
regulate short term loans similar to payday loans. Last session the
legislature capped the interest on these loans at 36%, driving
payday lenders from the state. People are going online or outside
the state to get these loans, and SB160 would permit lenders to set
up in New Hampshire. The extensive debate was between those who
wanted to protect people from themselves and those against usury,
and those who defended the right of people to make their own
mistakes. The vote to pass failed, 179-186; a vote to table failed
160-206; then a motion to kill the bill failed 183-184! Finally, we
voted to send it back to committee for more work, 225-142. Dan and I
voted in favor the bill, Jon and Tony against it.
SB129,
requiring a photo ID to vote, was debated at length, on whether or
not it would prevent people from voting. It finally passed, 243-111.
SB170, returning excess funds from the Medical Malpractice Joint
Underwriting Association to policy holders, was debated and passed,
252-63.
Anyone interested in what is going on in the State House
is invited to email or call me. Anyone who wants more information
than I can fit into a letter should email me for my newsletter.

Pantry Closed Update The pantry will be closed the week
of May 30th. We will be feeding patrons that come in the week
before extra food to hold them over for the week of May 30th.
Reminder When the pantry is closed (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday)
please do not leave any donations outside the door. We are
open to accept donations Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 10:00 am
from 5:00 pm. We are also here Wednesday from 10:00 am until
6:00 pm.
Feinstein Challenge Update As of April 13th we have
collected $1,871.17 in funds and $1,602.87 in food totaling
$3,747.04 towards this challenge. Our goal this year is
$5,000.00. We only need $1,252.96 to make our goal. So please,
donate food or funds and help us make our goal. All donations
(no matter how small) can add up and make a difference.
We are
very excited as the goal comes closer. Our volunteers are as
well. Each time a donation comes in for The Feinstein
Challenge, they log it in as quickly as possible so that our updates
remain current. Our volunteers are the backbone of our pantry.
Without their accepting and logging donations, and assisting in any
way they can we would not be able to feed as many households that we
do.
By donating toward the Feinstein Challenge, you will be
helping to feed your neighbors now and again in August when the
Feinstein check is received. Please keep up the good
work. It is greatly appreciated!
