Letter
to the Editor:
I wanted
to take this time to thank our Local Police and Fire Department.
Every year Epsom Police Department does a wonderful job showing
their presence over Halloween night. I wanted to personally thank
you. I know that I feel safer knowing that you are out there
protecting our children.
I also wanted to personally thank both departments for all the hard
work they do. I realize that you may not get paid for what you are
worth, however it is appreciated. Both Departments do a wonderful
job. They show patience for the town and residents. They are always
there when we need them, and to me, that is important to know I can
count on both when needed. Thank you.

Public Library News
The Epsom
Public Library, in its ongoing photography series, will offer a
Basic Image Editing class on Thursday, November 13, from 7-8:30 p.m.
The class will be taught by Aaron Baker of Mulberry Creek Imagery.
This class covers tips and techniques for improving your photos - or
just having fun with them - using image editing software. We will
discuss areas like adjusting brightness and color, adding things in
or taking things out of photos, and getting artsy. Seating is
limited, so make your reservation today by calling the Epsom Public
Library at 736-9920.
Anyone interested in meditation is invited to join Fran Nash on
November 19 from 7-8, for a presentation. Fran will facilitate a
guided meditation that she says will help one to relax and leave
feeling rejuvenated. There will also be time for sharing, as well as
for questions and answers after the meditation. Participants are
encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and may bring a blanket or a
mat to lie on.
The book club will meet next on November 19 at 6:30 P.M. to discuss
two short books, a novel, as well as a memoir, both dealing with
autism. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, by Mark
Haddon has been called “funny and agonizingly honest.” Ian McEwan,
author of Atonement, calls it “a superb achievement,” and refers to
the author as “a wise and bleakly funny writer with rare gifts of
empathy.” The memoir, Born on a Blue Day, by Daniel Tammet, is
subtitled “Inside the Extraordinary Mind of an Autistic Savant.”
Tammet has savant syndrome, a very rare condition that gives him
incredible and “unimaginable mental powers.” However, unlike many
people who have severe autistic disorders, Tammet is capable of not
only functioning successfully, but also of explaining what is
happening inside his head.
