Chichester Town Library
News
Thanks to all who came to
the Down Cellar Used Book Sale. Sales continue to help fund
programs and needs at the library that are not covered by the Town
Budget.
You may wonder how the
Lovers of the Chichester Library handle the book donations.
When they are received, they are sorted. Some are in pretty
bad shape, e.g. moldy with mildew. Those have to be discarded.
Some pique our interest to check for a larger value than what we
would get at the book sale, and we explore eBay for price
comparisons. If these books are worth the money, we actually post
them on eBay and have often received a good price. The others are
put into their categories for the sale, with triplicates being
donated to those with a good use for books, such as nursing homes.
Your donations of books are appreciated by so many, and we thank you
for them.
The school year is
winding down, and the library is looking forward to a great summer.
As we have in the past, the library will be participating in the
Summer Reading Program, “Libraries Rock!” Although the
planning is ongoing, the offerings to our kids will keep them
engaged in how much the library, its books and activities have to
offer. Stay tuned for further details.
The “Little Book Houses”
are repaired and open at both Carpenter Park and the Town Hall
parking lots. People have already dropped by to enjoy their
offerings.
The Knitting Circle will
be meeting Wednesday, at 3:30 p.m.
The Preschool Story and
Craft Hour will meet Thursday, June 7th. The following week,
June 14th, is the last day of this school year for the Preschool
Story and Crafts Hour. A therapy dog will be coming, so don’t
lose this opportunity to see a trained, working dog up close.
We’re sure all will enjoy the program.
Monday, June 11th, the
Library Trustees are scheduled to meet at 4 p.m. This is an
open meeting and patrons are welcome to attend to share ideas and/or
concerns.
The Evening Book Club
will be meeting on Wednesday evening, the 13th, at 7 p.m.
The Teen Advisory Group
is working on hosting a free breakfast for seniors on Saturday, June
16th at 9 a.m. It was a success last year and the same is
expected this year. There is a sign-up sheet at the
circulation desk. It’s always good to see the teens active and
combining fun with service. Kudos to them!
