CYA Soccer
registrations and Caramba Soccer camp registration forms have been
sent home from school. The deadline for soccer registration forms is
July 15th. Please take the time before you get busy with summer fun
to send them in, so no one misses the deadline.
Caramba Soccer Camp is
returning to Chichester again this year. This is a great camp to get
the kids ready for soccer season. Jorge and his team of coaches do a
great job. Please read the fine print on the bottom of the
registration form. If you are from Chichester and are signing up for
the Chichester camp, there is a discounted price for Chichester
residents.
Many thanks to all who
participated in the Memorial Day Celebration on May 30. Special
thanks to the Historical Society and Paul Sanborn for their
presentation on Henry Sanborn, Civil War Veteran. Also, a special
shout-out to the Boy Scouts who presented the flag and placed the
memorial wreath.

Solid Waste District
EFFECTIVE
JULY 1, 2018
Due to escalating costs
for disposal of trash and construction debris, the District
Committee has voted to increase the scale fee to $0.10 per pound,
effective July 1, 2018.
Anyone who does not
separate their refuse under the mandatory recycling guidelines, MUST
pay for disposal at the facility regardless if you are a resident or
property owner in the District. The same applies to
construction debris. This policy has been in effect since
January of 1991. **********************
Recycling markets
worldwide are in crisis and it is getting harder and harder to sell
an acceptable load for shipment. Some loads we are paying to ship to
market. This has had a very negative impact to our budget.
More and more recyclable materials are going back into the trash
purely because we cannot sell them, the cost to ship them is too
high or we do not have enough room to store them indefinitely.
On the other side of the issue, New Hampshire is running out of
landfill space to bury all this trash. The committee is
actively exploring options to secure the shipment and movement of
all our waste and recyclables.

The BCEP Solid Waste
District Committee is hosting an informal survey to gather input on
changing hours of operation. We would like to know if opening
earlier by one hour each day would be helpful or remaining open
later one evening during the week would be more beneficial.
Evening hours would only be available from April 1st – Columbus Day

The Knitting Circle will
be meeting Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
The Evening Book Club
meets Wednesday, the 13th, at 7 p.m. The book to be read and
discussed for the next meeting on July 11th is My Life in France, by
Julia Child.
The last Preschool Story
and Craft Hour for this school year will meet on Thursday, June
14th. A therapy dog will be a part of the hour, which should
add to all of the fun activities and be enjoyed by all who attend.
Saturday, June 16th, will
be a Senior Citizens’ Breakfast, hosted by the Teen Advisory Group.
It will be held at the Fire House at 9 a.m. A sign-up sheet is
at the circulation desk. Please let the teens know you are
coming.
Monday, June 18th, the
Lovers of the Chichester Library will be meeting.
Also on Monday, the 18th,
there will be a special program at 7 p.m.presented by NH Fish and
Game on bobcats. There will be information on the natural
history of bobcats, habitat needs and the implications of research
findings for their future management. We know we have them
here in Chichester, so this informational program should certainly
be of interest to many of us.
As announced earlier, the
Summer Reading Program is entitled “Libraries Rock!” The
Chichester Library is kicking things off with a “Messy Art Day” on
Thursday, June 28th, at 10:30 a.m. What is “messy art?”
Well, for the this event, it includes rock painting, a volcano, sand
painting, tie-dyed t-shirts (bring your own shirt to dye), ice chalk
painting and a mosaic sticker puzzle. Now that’s a rocking
kick-off!
Future dates to remember
include a concert by the Ukeladies on June 20th at 7 p.m. at the
Town Hall and a late afternoon of adult coloring on Monday, June
25th, starting at 4 p.m.

Receives $250 Community Spirit Grant
Employee-Directed
Mini-Grant Program Has Awarded $5.7 Million to Non-Profits in New
England Since 2002
Harvard Pilgrim Health
Care Foundation has announced that the Town of Chichester was
awarded $250 from the Foundation’s Community Spirit 9/11 Mini-Grant
program. Michael Stamowlaros, an employee of Harvard Pilgrim Health
Care affiliate, NTT Data, nominated the organization for the award.
Funds will be used to support the local food pantry.
To commemorate those
Harvard Pilgrim members who lost their lives on September 11, 2001,
Harvard Pilgrim and the Foundation created the Community Spirit 9/11
Mini-Grant program. This program allows each Harvard Pilgrim and NTT
Data employee to award a $250 - $500 grant, completely funded by the
Foundation, to the local charity of his or her choice each calendar
year. Since this community grants program began in 2002, Harvard
Pilgrim employees have directed more than $5.7 million to thousands
of organizations throughout Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, and
New Hampshire.
“We are so fortunate to
have generous and dedicated employees who enrich our company and the
communities in which we all live and work,” said Karen Voci,
President of the Harvard Pilgrim Foundation. “The Mini-Grant program
is a wonderful way to support our employees as philanthropists and
to help them make an impact in their own cities and towns.”
In 2017, more than 95% of
Harvard Pilgrim employees participated in at least one form of
service or giving through volunteering, the Mini-Grants program, or
Harvard Pilgrim’s annual Employee Fundraising Campaign.
