Don’t forget the Socks
for Seniors boxes at the Chichester Town Library and The Attic
Thrift Shop. New, colorful socks can be dropped off between now and
December 15 to be given to residents of area nursing homes at
Christmas time. This project is sponsored by Chichester Grange.
Chichester Grange has
become involved with RALI (the Rx Abuse Leadership Initiative) in
New Hampshire. It is an organization of community and advocacy
leaders working to address our state’s opioid crisis. The initial
focus is to provide education about opioid addiction and to provide
a way to remove unused prescription painkillers from people’s homes.
There are special bags in which prescription opioids can be
dissolved in water and then discarded. In Chichester you may pick up
a bag, as well as an informative flyer, at the Police Station or at
the Town Library. There is no cost involved, just a willingness to
keep unused pills out of the hands of children and other potential
victims.

The note cards and framed
photographs of backyard nature will still be available for purchase
throughout December. Our continued thanks to Barbara Sinclair
Pappas who is the photographer and who has donated these note cards
and framed photographs to help raise funds for the revamping of the
children’s section.
Another gift to consider
for those on your list is a gift certificate to the Down Under Used
Book Section. What a bonus that the receiver gets to choose
their own book(s), and will also be able to purchase so many more
than if they went to a traditional book store.
The Knitting Group will
be meeting this Wednesday afternoon, at 3:30 p.m.
Tomorrow, Thursday,
December 6th, is Preschool Story and Craft Hour, beginning at 10:45
a.m. and meeting at the Fire Department. The interaction with
firefighters is always a hit with the kids, so don’t miss it!
The Memory Café will be
meeting at the Epsom Library on Monday, December 10th, at 2 p.m.
The Library Trustees will
be meeting on Monday the 10th at 4 p.m. This is an open
meeting.
Take some time out to
recover from Thanksgiving and from the preparations and shopping for
the upcoming December holidays by coming to the library on Tuesday
morning at 10:30 to color and talk with your friends and neighbors.
Also, those with little
ones are invited to join in Toddler Time at 10:30, also on Tuesday
mornings. A parent or caregiver needs to attend with the
little one.
Friday, December 14th, is
the Pontine Theatre’s Christmas Program, to be held at Town
Hall/Grange at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be available for this
family-oriented program.
The Library is doing a
Winter Weather Clothing Drive for homeless people in the
Chichester/Concord area. Winter clothing, coats, hats, gloves
and boots in all sizes for adult men and women are needed. All
donations will go to the Concord Resource Center for the Homeless.
We have already had that
first burst of winter, where schools have been postponed or closed.
Please remember that the library follows the lead of the Chichester
Center School for closings. Announcements will be made on WMUR
and Facebook.
