His Sleigh
The Chichester Police
Department and The Chichester Police Association are currently
taking applications for Secret Santa. If you know of a needy family
or a senior citizen in the town of Chichester that could use a
little assistance this holiday season, please let the Chichester
Police Department know by calling 798-4911.
CLOSING DAY FOR ACCEPTING
APPLICATIONS at the Chichester Police Station will be DECEMBER 19,
2018. Thank you once more for your continued support and if you wish
to make monetary donations, please make checks out to the Chichester
Police Association.
The Socks for Seniors
boxes will be collected on Saturday, December 15, to allow
Chichester Grangers time to deliver the socks to area nursing homes
in time for Christmas. If you have purchased socks to donate, now is
the time to bring them to The Attic Thrift Shop or the Chichester
Town Library.
Come to the Gazebo in the
Green Space next to the Town Hall on Sunday, December 16, at 2 p.m.
for Christmas caroling followed by hot chocolate at the Methodist
Parish Hall. The Chichester Historical Society Museum next door to
the Parish Hall will be open from 2 to 3:30 for those who would like
to observe the displays there.
Chichester Grange will
meet on Wednesday, December 19, at 7 p.m. upstairs in the Grange
Hall.
Thank you to all who
attended or helped with the Grange Penny Sale on December 1st.
Chichester Grange raised $150 to spend on sponsoring children for
Operation Santa Claus.

Last few days to bring in
new “Socks for Seniors!” They will be going to nursing homes,
veterans, and other seniors after Saturday, the 15th.
This week, the 10th
through the 15th, placemats 2/25¢! Throw pillows 50¢ and
handbags and little wallets 50¢ each! Books are still $1.00 per bag.
We truly appreciate your
donations, but if you could wait until January to bring items, we
would appreciate it. There is a problem with our storage area.
We could use a donation
of a flag pole with an OPEN flag (probably a bracket too). The winds
did ours in.

Chichester Town Library News
Friday night, December
14th, is one of the special events of the holiday. The Pontine
Theatre’s Christmas production will be offered at the Town
Hall/Grange at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served. This
family-oriented program is an historical nod to “toy theaters” of
the past and has been enjoyed by many residents in the past.
Come join us!
The Knitting Group
continues to meet on Wednesday afternoons, at 3:30 p.m.
Thursdays at 10:45 a.m.
is Preschool Story and Craft Hour.
Also, those with little
ones are invited to join in Toddler Time at 10:30, also on Tuesday
mornings. A parent or caregiver needs to attend with the
little one.
Although no formal book
sales will take place during the winter months, the public can
access and choose used books from the Down Cellar Used Books area
whenever the library is open AND there is no other program being
held in the community room. Payment can then be made to the
Library Director or staff.
The distribution of free
books will continue, and additional spots are being added to those
mentioned in previous editions of The Sun. Country Cookin’ at the
Epsom circle is one of the recent additions, with more expected to
be added.
With the December
holidays already started, remember gifts from the library are
terrific and easy solutions to your gift lists. The note cards
and framed photographs of backyard nature will still be available
for purchase throughout December, with the proceeds to benefit the
revamping of the children’s area of the library. Also, gift
certificates to the Down Under Used Book Section give the gifter and
the receiver great value.
The Library is doing a
Winter Weather Clothing Drive for homeless people in the
Chichester/Concord area. Winter clothing, coats, hats, gloves
and boots in all sizes for adult men and women are needed. All
donations will go to the Concord Resource Center for the Homeless.
Also, the library always
collects food for those less fortunate in town. There is a
basket for donations immediately inside of the front door, to the
left.
Remember that the library
follows the lead of the Chichester Center School for closings.
Announcements will be made on WMUR and Facebook.
