The Community Supper at the Chichester Methodist Parish Hall on Wednesday, November 21, is a Thanksgiving Dinner. Come and enjoy a free meal with friends and neighbors.

The Chichester Holiday Food Basket Program for 2018 in cooperation with the Capital Region Food Program is excited to provide a holiday meal and additional food to help families over the holidays.  The Chichester Food Pantry will be accepting applications until Dec 1.   The Chichester contact for a basket is Evelyn Pike at 798-5808 ext. 1 or stop by town hall.

It’s time again for Socks for Seniors. Boxes have been placed at the Chichester Town Library and The Attic Thrift Shop to receive your donations of new, colorful socks in adult sizes to be given to seniors in area nursing homes at Christmas time. The boxes will be in place until December 15. This project is sponsored by Chichester Grange and has been well received by recipients and donors alike.

Have you ever been to a Grange Penny Sale? It is a cross between a yard sale and a raffle. Numerous small items are spread out on tables. You purchase a block of tickets and put one in a small cup beside the items you like. Numbers are drawn, and you take home the items you have won. Chichester Grange will be holding a Penny Sale and Soup Lunch at the Grange/Town Hall on Saturday, December 1, at 11 a.m.  Numbers will be drawn beginning at 12 noon. Purchase a lunch of homemade soup to enjoy while waiting to see what you will be bringing home. The Penny Sale is Christmas-themed but not limited to Christmas items.

REMINDER

The Chichester Police Department has applications for assistance through the Santa’s Helpers program at the station. They must be filled out completely and turned in to the Chichester Police Department by December 19, 2018. You must be a Chichester resident. Unfortunately we have to restrict it to children eighteen and younger. We try to fill the “needs” category first and then things in the “want” category. Questions: call 798-4911 Chichester Police.

Once again the Chichester Food Pantry will be handling the food baskets for Christmas, so please contact the Town Hall.

Out Of Your Attic

Thrift Shop News

Submitted By Carol Hendee

We are closed for Thanksgiving. Next Thursday is the 1/2 price day.  Once again, we are a collection place for the Socks for Seniors program. Need brand new warm socks for vets, people in nursing homes, etc.  There will be a decorated box on the table for the socks.

Also, we will be a collection center for the Concord Resource Center for the homeless.  It was pointed out to me that homeless people from Chichester and surrounding towns often use the Concord Resource Center when it is too cold to camp out. You can check their website:  www.concordhomeless.org. Items you can drop off at The Attic (please mark them so we know to deliver to the shelter) include: winter boots sizes 10 to 13; parkas or very warm winter jackets; foot, hand, and body warmers; shampoo, and laundry detergent.

345 Suncook Valley Hgwy, Chichester.  Mon. 8-12; Tues.& Thurs. 8-4; Wed. 11-4 & Sat. 10-4.  247-7191.

Chichester Town Library News

The library will be closed from November 22-25th, so that staff may enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends.  The library wishes all a safe and comfortable Thanksgiving holiday.

Coffee and coloring continues on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m.

Bring your little ones in for Toddler Time at 10:30 on Tuesday mornings.

Save the evening of December 14th for the Pontine Theatre’s Christmas Program, to be held at Town Hall/Grange at 7 p.m.  Using the style of “toy theater,” the Pontine Theatre selects a tale by a New England author for their Christmas presentation.  This program is always a delight for attendees.

Chichester Spirit of NH award 11 2018.jpg

Outstanding Volunteer Program Champion Award Presented to Live and Let Live Farm’s Rescue and Sanctuary. This recognition is not only well deserved but hard earned by the army of volunteers that give tirelessly and freely of themselves to better the lives of not only all the animals that call the Farm their Rescue and Sanctuary, but to the family community we have created. We are over 500 volunteers strong and we are bound together by the love of what we do. We have made a choice to leave our mark on the world, and leave it a better place than where we found it. We encourage you to get involved in your community, by any means you have. Help us to continue our mission to help those in need. Visit us on a weekly Sunday guided tour held every Sunday at 2:30 and learn how you can help with donations or learn how you can become part of the giving hearts and caring hands of the family of volunteers!  Live and Let Live Farm’s Rescue and Sanctuary is a safe haven for animals in hoarding, starvation and abandonment cases as well as helping those whom have loved their animals and can no longer care for them in harsh times (loss of job, home, sickness or even death of owners). More than 500 volunteers log in over 50,000 hours per year, that being said, more volunteers are always in need and highly appreciated. Live and Let Live’s team is an army of dedicated people bringing all their individual talents  to the table.  This is a large working rescue farm, and the team adapts to every situation and goes above and beyond in the care provided to the animals. The Live and Let Live Farm’s Rescue and Sanctuary is an environment  in which hundreds benefit from having a safe place to encourage the partnership between humans and animals. Animals are helped and rescued not only in NH, but surrounding New England area’s and across the country when able. To find out more or to help support LLLF with your donation please go to:  www.liveandletlivefarm.org
