The CYA will be hosting again this year a Caramba Soccer Skills Camp at Carpenter Park July 31st-August 4th. Camp is 9:00am- 3:00pm and is open to kids in grades 1st-8th. This is a great camp to get the kids ready for the fall soccer season which will begin in early-mid August. Forms can be found online at soccerskillscamp.org. Chichester families pay $170.00 for the camp which is a discounted rate from the normal $210.00. If you have any questions feel free to contact Todd Monterio - [email protected].

Happy Birthday to Derek Duford on July 6.

If the CYA Soccer registration form is still in your to-do pile, please hunt it out and send it in. They are due on July 15.  Lost it? They can be found online at chichesteryouth.com.

The Chichester Grange July Eat-Out will be at Makris Restaurant on July 19. Members are welcome to bring family and friends. Please let Mary West know how many will be attending.

Chichester Town Library News

The Knitting Circle continues to meet through the summertime and will be meeting this afternoon at the library at 3:30.

The Memory Café will be meeting on July 10th at 2:30 p.m. at the Northwood Lake Beach (54 Lake Shore Drive).  People can either go directly there or meet up at the Epsom Library at 2:15 to coordinate rides/driving.   If it’s a rainy day, the Cafe will meet at the Chichester Town Library.

There is a correction to last week’s article for the Down Cellar Poets.  They are meeting on Monday, July 10th, instead of the 3rd, because of the holiday.  We hope no one was inconvenienced.

The first scheduled activity for the Summer Reading Program is next Wednesday, July 12th, at 3:30 p.m., when local author and illustrator, Professor Cookie, will read her book, The Lie.   Older kids will be learning how to create and develop a story board, while younger ones will explore how to both develop and draw a character of their own.

The Down Under Used Book area would love to receive your used books to get things ready for the next sale on July 15th.  We’ve been fortunate that our customer base continues to expand, and that our long-time customers remain faithful.  Thanks so much.

And, last but not least, a “share” on Face Book that helps to answer some person’s question of why we even need libraries, with some additions:  1) an unemployed resident using the internet connection to look for and apply for jobs; 2) families saving money and resources by borrowing books and DVDs, instead of buying them; 3) programs for the youngest children and caretakers to instill a love of reading and learning; 4) hosting community organizations for meetings and activities; 5) planning and executing community programs; 6) hosting used book sales; and the list just continues.

Chichester Heritage Commission
Receives Globe Community Fund Grant

A $1,500 grant has been received from the Globe Community Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.  The grant money will be used toward the purchase of a gazebo for the GREENSPACE being developed at the Grange/Town Hall on Main St.  The GREENSPACE is being worked on by local community design charrette team and other interested community members.  Recent changes at the GREENSPACE include a roadside wall built by Dan Schroth with the help of many volunteers and the planting of ten evergreen trees donated by Millican Wholesale Nurseries, Inc.

More funds will need to be raised for the purchase of the gazebo.  This 16’ structure is made from CA Natural Select (Arsenic-Free) pressure treated southern yellow pine with a cedar-shingled roof.  Interior benches will provide seating.  The gazebo will be used for a variety of future events as work continues to create “A VILLAGE CENTER, AGAIN”.  For information about this project, call Lucille Noel, 798-5709 or email Michelle Plunkett at [email protected] or [email protected].

Donation to the Gazebo Fund can be sent to: Chichester Heritage Commission, 54 Main St. Chichester, NH  03258
