The Chichester
Historical Society has received a grant from the NH Humanities
Council to present “Harnessing History: On the Trail of NH’s State
Dog: The Chinook.” This program will be held at the Chichester
Grange Hall, 54 Main Street on Monday, May 8th, at 7 p.m. Bob
Cottrell, curator of the Henney History Room at the Conway Public
Library will be the speaker. This program is free and open to the
public. Refreshments will be served. For further

It’s not
too early to be putting aside items for the Historical Society’s
yearly yard sale. The sale is scheduled for Saturday, May 20th, at
the museum building on 49 Main Street. Donations will be accepted
through Tuesday, May 16th. Contact Lucille Noel at 798-5709.
Happy Birthday to Diana Menard on May 9.
Lasagna is on the menu for the Community Supper at the Chichester
United Methodist Parish Hall on May 10. Supper begins at 6 p.m. and
is free to all, although donations are welcome to defray the costs
of future suppers. Come and enjoy good food and good fellowship with
your neighbors and friends.

Chichester Town Library
News
The library wants to thank everyone who came to the first
book sale of the year. A lot of books went out the door, but
there are always more coming in. Stay tuned for next month’s
sale on May 20th, which will incorporate the annual plant sale.
Seniors from Chichester also enjoyed a great pancake breakfast on
April 29th, prepared by the Teen Advisory Group. Great job!
This afternoon is the meeting of the Knitting Group at 3:30 p.m.
Under the direction of Sharon Pinckney, this group is flourishing.
Tomorrow morning is the pre-school and kindergarten story and craft
hour, beginning at 10 a.m.
Tomorrow at noon is the meeting of the
Down Cellar Readers monthly book club. This group is in need
of more and/or new members. Bring a lunch and enjoy the group,
the “read” and the discussion.
Monday, May 8th at 7 p.m. is a
meeting of the Down Cellar Poets.
Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. is
Toddler Time, a program for babies and children under the age of 3.
Mark the calendar for another event on May 20th, when the
Pontine Theater will be coming to the Grange at 7 p.m. for a
presentation of “The Story of a Bad Boy.” More information to
come on this program.

Council to present “Harnessing History: On The Trail Of New
Hampshire’s State Dog, The Chinook”
This program will be
presented on Monday, May 8th at 7:00 pm at the Grange Hall, 54 Main
St.
Bob Cottrell, curator of the Henney History Room at the
Conway Public Library, will speak on dog sledding and artic
expeditions in which the Chinook played a role.
This program is
free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.

Obituaries
Candee J. Frost
CHICHESTER- Mrs. Candee J. Frost, 47, of Chichester, passed away
peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 23, 2017 after a
brief battle with cancer.
Born in Rochester, Candee was the
daughter of Brenda (Rainaud) Smith of Barnstead and the late Joseph
Smith. She was raised and educated in Amherst and later moved
to Barnstead before finally settling in Chichester where she resided
for the past 31 years with her loving husband.
Prior to her
illness, Candee had been employed as an office worker for Globe
Manufacturing in Pittsfield, a position she held for over 28 years.
She enjoyed camping and fishing, but above all, cherished the time
spent with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her
father, Candee was predeceased by her sister, Justine Trainer.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 26 years, Richard S. Frost;
two children, Richard S. Frost, Jr. and Brittany L. Frost; one
sister, Joy Couch of Epsom; and her three grandchildren, Carlee,
Jenna and Eric Hilliard.
Her Funeral Service will be held on
Saturday, May 6th at 1 P.M. in the Still Oaks Funeral &
Memorial Home 1217 Suncook Valley Highway in Epsom. Calling
Hours and Memorial Reception will follow until 4 P.M.
Candee’s
family are advocates for the early detection of cancer and hope that
a cure can be found. Therefore, in lieu of flowers,
expressions of sympathy in Candee’s memory may be sent to the
Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, NY 11714 to
find a cure for pancreatic cancer.
