Chichester Grange
will meet on Wednesday, May 24, at 7 p.m. upstairs in the Grange
Hall. This meeting was postponed from May 17.
Santa Fe
Chicken and Aztec Rice are on the menu for the Community Supper on
May 24. Come to the Chichester United Methodist Parish Hall and
enjoy a free meal in the company of your friends and neighbors.
Donations are always welcomed and used to defray the costs of future
suppers.
The Chichester Conservation Commission is
planning a work session at Carpenter Park on the afternoon of
Sunday, June 4th, to work on the control of invasive species,
specifically Japanese barberry and autumn olive. They would welcome
anyone who would like to help with this project to stop the spread
of these non-native plants which are taking over the native plants’
territory.
The annual Memorial Day program sponsored
by Chichester Grange will be held on Tuesday, May 30, at 6:30 p.m.
at the Grange/Town Hall. Plan to meet inside for a short program,
and then move outside for placing a wreath at the memorial stone and
a flag ceremony. Three veterans who are also members of the
Chichester Historical Society will share stories of their service.
This program is held each year on the “traditional” Memorial Day so
as not to conflict with other observances in the area.
Dan Schroth of Stonefence Builders will be erecting a stone wall in
the “green space” at the Town Hall on Saturday, June 3. He will be
there at 6 a.m. and he needs helpers and flat stones in order to
complete the project in a timely fashion. Flat stones may be brought
to the site any time before June 3. Contact Lucille Noel at 798-5709

The CYA will not be opening
the Snack Shack at Carpenter Park this spring. A lot of people have
been working diligently to get the new building ready, but
unfortunately there are still some key items that need to be
finished. Perhaps it can be opened for the soccer season. Meanwhile,
the CYA will be doing some fundraisers to help with the loss of
revenue from the Snack Shack. One is a raffle for a round of golf
for 4 people with carts at Beaver Meadow. Tickets are $10.00 each or
3 for $25.00. To purchase a ticket, see a baseball or softball
player. The sales period ends on June 1st and the drawing will be at
the CYA meeting on June 11th at 6:30.
The Chichester
Methodist Community Supper scheduled for June 7 has been moved to
May 31. It will be an Outdoor Barbecue, and it is the final supper
for this season.

Nascar and Harley Davidson merchandise. Wedding and graduation
items are also out.
We will be closed Monday, May 29th for
Memorial Day. Do stop by and pickup some barbeque tools as well as
picnic supplies.

Chichester Town Library
News
Thanks to everyone who
supported the used book sale and plant sale last Saturday.
Your patronage helps the library remain your center of community for
programming, meeting, reading and interests.
The Teen Advisory Group will be meeting on
Saturday, May 27th at 9:30 a.m. After a successful pancake
breakfast for seniors in April, the group wants to plan more
activities.
Remember the challenge to read “1000 Books
Before Kindergarten?” Well, we already have one successful
participant: Aaron Rousselle. Although he is only 2
years old, he has already accomplished the goal. He received
his certificate, a cookie and a toy on May 10th.
Congratulations, Aaron!
The Memory Café will be meeting on June
5th. Participants and their caregivers will be going to
Northwood Meadows State Park on Route 4. This lovely park is
great for walking and enjoying the woods. Either meet at the
park at 2:30 p.m. (it is well marked and across from Peace Time
Puzzles) or meet at the Epsom Library at 2:15 to carpool. If
it is raining, the group will meet at the Epsom Library.
MARK
YOUR CALENDARS: there are just a few weeks remaining before
the library holds an open house and dedication for the new addition.
It will be held on June 17th, the same day as that month’s used book
sale. This addition, made possible by a bequest of Shirley A.
Waters, features a lift to assist those with mobility challenges, a
comfortable “reading” room and storage areas.
Also because of the
generous actions of the family of Olive A. Edmunds, donations made
in her honor and memory have allowed the library to purchase a
beautiful and well-made rocking chair. It can be found in the
“reading” room. Those donations will also be used for a
subscription to the Concord Monitor. Start your day, or check
in anytime, to see the news of the broader community.
The
Heritage Commission has alerted us to the availability of five (5)
maple trees that are for the beautification of our roadsides in
Chichester. These trees, known for their Fall foliage, are
waiting for digging and subsequent transplanting at Bob and Faye
McAnney’s. Please call Lucille Noel at 798-5709.
The
library will be closed for commemoration of Memorial Day, on Monday,
May 29th.

In the previous
information, I gave the wrong meeting date. I greatly apologize.
Our next meeting is on 5/30 at 6:30 pm.
As of now we have
volunteers whom have taken on the task of a scavenger hunt around
town.
A build your own box car, on site and join our drive-in
movie for Friday night, all while the Mardenfamily prepares and
lowers the beans into the ground, following years of tradition.
Old Home Day is coming to life before our eyes. If you like to make
a difference and be a part of bringing everyone together, we could
use your help. Small or large, in any capacity, you are able,
volunteers are welcomed and greatly appreciated.

“...To Build A Stonewall”
Sometimes it “takes a Village” to get a project going. With some
dedicated volunteers and Dan Schroth, “Stoneman” of STONEFENCE
at the helm, we hope to get a wall built on Saturday, June 3rd. Bring your gloves and some flat-type stone (of
any size) and
show up at the Grange/Town Hall parking lot anytime from 6 am on
- Dan gets an early start. Can’t lift stone? Come give moral
support to the project. We”ll take a noonish break for some
nourishment. If you can donate some food for the table contact
Lucille Noel, 798-5709. Let’s make this a community effort in the
Town of Chichester.
