PHILLIPINE SEA (Feb. 15,
2017) Cmdr. Derek Duford, commanding officer of the “Blue Blasters”
of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 34, of Chichester, New Hampshire,
dons survival equipment on the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN
70). The Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group is on a regularly
scheduled Western Pacific deployment as part of the U.S. Pacific
Fleet-led initiative to extend the command and control functions of
U.S. 3rd Fleet. U.S. Navy aircraft carrier strike groups have
patrolled the Indo-Asia-Pacific regularly and routinely for more

Pot Roast at the free Community Supper at the Chichester United
Methodist Parish Hall on February 22 at 6 p.m. These suppers are
open to all, and if you would like to make a donation the money
will be used for future suppers.
If you haven’t
registered already, the CYA Baseball/Softball registration
deadline is March 5th. Forms can be found online at

Registrations will also be accepted from March 6th - 12th with a
$10.00 late fee. Attached to the registration forms are skill
requirements for each level. Please review them as teams will be

News
The Library is pleased to be able to offer Free passes for
the Currier Museum in Manchester. The passes are good for 2
adults & 2 Youth FREE-children 12 & under are always free. The
Museum is closed on Tuesdays; otherwise open 11-5:00pm Take
advantage during school vacation!
Toddler Story time will be held
on Tues. the 21st and Pre-school story hour will be held on Thursday
Feb. 23 at 10:30 am. Open to all-come share stories, songs,
crafts & refreshments. Next week is school vacation and story
times will not be held. Instead there will be a special
“event” on Thursday, March 2 at the library at 10:30-open to all
ages-there will be tables setup for science & art projects.
The
Library is providing 2 programs by Marina Forbes, an expert on
Russian Arts, History and Culture. On Fri. Feb. 24 at 7:00 pm
at the Grange, she will present a program on Imperial Russian
Faberge Eggs, sponsored by the New Hampshire Humanities Council.
On Sat., the 25th, Marina will lead individuals in creating their
own Faberge egg. The program is also at the Grange from 10-1:00 pm
with a cost of $10.00 pp which covers the cost of a wooden egg and
wooden stand and use of paints and brushes. Recommended for
ages 6 & up-open to the public.

CHICHESTER, NH: The
Chichester Town Library presents a unique workshop on the rich
Russian folk tradition of wooden egg painting offered by the
Traditional Russian artist and lecturer, Marina Forbes. This
workshop is scheduled on Saturday, February 25 from 10am to 1pm at
the Chichester Town Library (161 Main St, Chichester, NH 03258, tel:
(603) 789-5613) in Chichester, NH and it is open to adults, teens
and families with children 6 and up. It is a great
opportunity for adults and families to work together and learn about
Russian crafts and culture.
This unique program combines a
beautifully illustrated presentation on the life and remarkable work
of Russian master jeweled egg artist, Peter Carl Faberge, with a
hands-on workshop where participants will learn how to render a
variety of delightful images on wooden eggs. This workshop is open
to adults, teens and families with children 6 and up. Inspired by a
spectacular photo-tour of the Faberge collections at the
Faberge Museum at the Shuvalov Palace in St. Petersburg, the Kremlin
Armory Museum in Moscow and other world famous museums and private
collectors around the world, program participants will have a unique
opportunity to use their creativity and imagination to produce their
own authentic pieces of collectible folk art on wood. Traditional
Russian painting techniques and floral and berry designs are
introduced. Throughout the workshop portion of the program,
participants will be listening to traditional Russian music. (There
is a materials fee for anyone participating in the hands-on
component of the program. This fee of $10 covers the cost of the
wooden egg and stand as well as the use of paints for painting on
wood and brushes for the workshop.)

Presenter Marina Forbes
is a lecturer, historian and award-winning artist, Master
Iconographer (2013, 2014 and 2015 awards for Artistic Excellence
granted by The National Endowment for the Arts and The New Hampshire
State Council on the Arts) who has lectured extensively on Russian
traditional arts, history and the rich tapestry of Russian culture.
She is featured on the NH Council on the Arts Rosters for Arts in
Education and Traditional Arts and she is a speaker on Russian Arts,
History and Culture with the NH Humanities Council. Each year,
Marina leads cultural tours to Russia where she regularly updates
her scholarship, gathering photos and documents, visiting craft
factories, GULAG sites and monasteries, and interviewing
journalists, political figures and scholars on the current state of
affairs in Russia. Marina has a distinctive ability to generate
energy and enthusiasm in the audience and to bring the rich fabric
of traditional Russian art and folklore to life for children of all
ages through memorable and thought-provoking programs. Marina’s
talks are sometimes a little bit funny, sometimes a little bit sad….
but always unmistakably Russian.

event "Imperial Faberge Eggs" on Friday, February 24 at 7pm at the

public.
Lecturer, Award-winning
artist, historian and Master Iconographer, Marina Forbes, will offer
a unique interactive and beautifully illustrated presentation
Imperial Russian Faberge Eggs focusing on the life and remarkable
