The Wine’ing Butcher Opens New Location
Left to Right: David Moulton
(General Manager), Robert Smith, Jr (Co-Owner), Robert Smith, Sr
(Co-Owner), Andrew Arguin (Co-Owner)
On Thursday, June 26, 2014, The Wine’ing Butcher opened its doors
for the first time in southern New Hampshire, and the residents of
Bedford and Pembroke are rejoicing. These communities were left with
a void when The Meat House abruptly closed their doors in February,
2014 and now these communities are celebrating the arrival of The
Wine’ing Butcher. Though The Wine’ing Butcher opened in the same
location as The Meat House there is no association between the two
companies, except for the fact that The Wine’ing Butcher was pleased
to offer employment to some previous employees.
The Wine’ing Butcher has been a staple to the Lakes Region ever
since Andrew and Gretchen Arguin opened the original location in
Gilford, NH on July 4, 2006. It was an immediate success and soon
afterwards they opened a second location in Meredith.
Though The Wine’ing Butcher has expanded into southern New
Hampshire, the quality and uniqueness of this neighborhood market
remains the same. The Wine’ing Butcher offers signature quality
products and provides dedicated knowledgeable customer service.
There is a full service meat market stocked with Top Grade meat,
fresh never frozen seafood, a selection of fresh produce, a Boar’s
Head Deli, local breads, and select wines, craft beers, and artisan
cheeses.
It also offers an extensive array of imported specialty items and
custom made gift baskets. The goal of The Wine’ing Butcher is to be
your one-stop shop for all your dining needs. “You’ll taste the
difference, experience the texture you want and get the tenderness
you deserve at The Wine’ing Butcher” says Robert (Bob) Smith Sr, who
has frequented The Wine’ing Butcher’s Gilford location since the
doors first opened and, along with his son Robert (Rob) Smith Jr,
has partnered with Andrew and Gretchen. As a resident of Bedford,
Rob Smith Jr is excited to bring this market to his community.
The Wine’ing Butcher will be open 7 days a week and will be open on
the fourth of July.
Chichester Central Graduation
In 2006 the graduating class at Chichester Central painted a mural
on the wall outside the principal’s office. Included in the design
were the handprints of their Kindergarten buddies. Eight years later
on June 20, 2014, those Kindergarten buddies became the graduating
class at Chichester Central School. Led by 7th Grade Class Marshals
Sammy Weir and Jackie Arell and followed by flag bearers Eric
Chapman and Nolan Sykes the Class of 2014 marched into a
Multi-Purpose Room decorated for the occasion with plants loaned by
Millican Nurseries and silhouette posters of the graduates.
Justin Smith led the Pledge of Allegiance and Class President Kyle
Mitchell gave the welcoming speech. In her Commencement Address
Kelly Wagner compared the Chichester Central School to a garden with
herself and her classmates as flowers. The Class of 2014 has been
noted for imagination as well as academic achievement. Their class
gift of a “Rocky the Ram” costume for use at pep rallies and sports
events certainly was inspired by imagination. A showing of the class
social studies video reenactment of a battle from World War I was
followed by the customary photos of class members prepared by Mrs.
Kate Dockham.
Principal Pamela Stiles then came forward to present awards. Kyle
Mitchell and Kelly Wagner received awards for the Highest Academic
Achievement in the class. Bettyjane Weir was given the Kempton
Ricker Award. Irene Ricker Awards were presented to Steven Cavanaugh
and Elizabeth Donzello-Jewett. The D.A.R. Award recipient was
Madeleine Boyer. Principal Stiles announced that ten students from
the Class of 2014 had scored above the national average in the
Scholastic Challenge for Eighth Graders this year. The highest score
in New Hampshire was achieved by Kelly Wagner. This is the 4th time
that a student from Chichester Central has accomplished this feat.
The Chris Thomas Award was presented to Justin Smith. Evan Amour
received the Sue Williams Scholarship. The PTO Awards were presented
to Joey Edmonds and Tyler Smith. Jordan Davison was given the
Michael Booth Award. Elizabeth Donzello-Jewett, Joey Edmonds, Kyle
Mitchell, Julia Valotto, and Kelly Wagner were recognized for having
been on the High Honor Roll every quarter since 4th grade.
The A. Allan Clark/Freda Jones Award is given each year to an
outstanding adult volunteer. This year’s recipient was Jennifer
Monterio. Larissa Amour, a graduate of Pembroke Academy, received
the Sanborn Scholarship.
School Board Chairman Harold Losey and Principal Stiles with some
assistance from School Board Members Sally Kelly and Ben Brown
presented diplomas to Evan Amour, Cassandra Bonacorsi, Madeleine
Boyer, Jonathan Brown, Devon Cassel, Steven Cavanaugh, Clayton
Clarke, Zachary Davidson, Jordan Davison, Elizabeth Donzello-Jewett,
Joey Edmonds, Cole Hapgood, Zachary Harris, Kyle Harrison, Luke
Jameson, Dylan McQueen, Kyle Mitchell, Vickey Mudgett, Jared Murray,
Abbie O’Rourke, Danielle Parent, Alex Pratt, Derick Raymond, Jaden
Russell, Maria Skidmore, Justin Smith, Tyler Smith, Delanie St.
Laurent, Caleb Stock, Megan Stone, Julia Valotto, Kelly Wagner,
Bettyjane Weir, and Jesse Wrightington.
The Class of 2014 then sang “Farewell to Chichester” and walked
briskly out to a recorded song of their choice.
