Our inventory is always changing, thanks to your donations.
However, please do NOT leave bags outside the building when we are
closed. That is so much extra hauling for the volunteers and a good
chance the bags will be ruined by frequent showers. Also, small
white bags are preferable over the big black bags due to physical
limitations of volunteers.
We have a nice selection of ladies’ shorts, teenage girl shorts and
summer shell necklaces and bracelets are out for fun wearing! Rte

School’s out and it’s time to enroll in the Summer Reading Program,
“Fizz, Boom, Read!” The first activity is a soldering workshop on
Saturday, June 28th at 9:30a.m. at the Library. The workshop is
limited to ten participants, so signing up is necessary. (Adults may
fill in any vacancies and should express their interest to Lisa or
Kayla at the Library.) The second activity is a “Science
Extravaganza” scheduled for Monday, June 30th at 6:30 p.m. at the
Library. This is being presented by Science and Nature
Explorations/Science Nature Boot Camp of Chichester and will include
a variety of hands-on experiences for the participants. Adults
attending can also enjoy the fun.
Save the date of July 7th for the Lego Car Derby at the Grange Hall.
Although all are invited, the roster will include only 18 racers,
who must be a part of the Summer Reading Program and will make their
cars out of Legos provided by the Library. Car bases have been
generously donated for this event.
Also save July 23rd for Scott Jameson who will be presenting a
family-oriented “Science and Magic” program to be held at the Grange
at 6:30 p.m. Mr. Jameson’s program, which explores
science’s connection to magic and juggling, is a Kids, Books and the
Arts event and is funded by the Jack and Dorothy Bryne Foundation,
CHILIS, Cogswell Benevolent Trust, and is supported in part by a
grant from the NH State Council on the Arts and the National
Endowment for the Arts as well as funds administered by the NH State
Library and provided by the Institute of Museum and Library
Services.
The Library will be closed on Friday, June 27th for the installation
of, and training in, the software package that has been acquired for
inventory, tracking and other administrative responsibilities. This
system is also being used by other libraries in the area, as well as
some schools, and enables the networking between those institutions.
Wednesdays, July 2nd and 9th , will see movies for school age
children presented at the Library at 3 p.m. The first movie will be
The Croods and the second will be Freaky Friday. Substitutions by
Library staff may occur.
The June raffle is almost over. It is worth your time to get to the
Library and buy some tickets for the antique toy cars and tow truck,
a book of “blueprints” of fun things to make and a gift certificate
to the Longhorn Steakhouse. Don’t forget the summer
raffles of the two bicycles, each worth over $200.00, one designed
for a man and the other for a woman.
Five 8th Grade students were recognized at Chichester’s Academic
Awards. These students have received high honors each marking
period since the 4th grade. This is very impressive achievement.
They are: Liz Donzello-Jewett, Julia Valotto, Kelly Wagner, Kyle
Mitchell and Joey Edmonds. All are headed to Pembroke Academy next
year.
Chichester Grange
Chichester Grange met at the Grange Hall on Wednesday, June 4, at 7
p.m. Master Kevin Belval called the meeting to order and introduced
members of Antrim Grange who were visiting for the evening. Wildlife
sightings included a female turkey with nine poults on Horse Corner
Road, a mockingbird, and several chipmunks.
Fresh mulch has been spread at Memorial Park, and the watering
schedule has been assigned. A few new plants have been added with
the goal of needing less mulch in future years. Members are
encouraged to pull weeds when they are in the area.
The July Eat-Out is planned for Wednesday, July 16, at the Windmill
Restaurant in Concord. Mary West will make the arrangements. The
Eat-Out is a social event and members are encouraged to invite
family members and close friends. Chichester Grange meets only once
a month in July and August.
The program topic for the evening was Sports Biography. Members
shared biographical information about sports figures, well-known and
otherwise.
The evening ended with refreshments and fellowship.
