Do you draw? Creative artwork is needed for the 2013 Chichester Town Report. The Selectmen are looking for artwork for the front and back covers, and other artwork will be included in the body of the report as space permits. Chichester citizens of all ages are invited to submit their perceptions of our great community. Artwork may be full color or black and white, not larger than 8.5 X 11 inches. Submit all artwork to the Selectmen’s Office before January 16. It may be on paper or electronic in .jpeg or .pdf format. If you have questions, please contact the Chichester Town Offices, 54 Main Street, or call them at 798-5350.

Chichester Grange will meet only once during the month of January. That meeting will be January 8, with a Soup Supper at 6 p.m. and the meeting to follow. Plans will be made for the Organization Fair to be held in early February.

If you are doing a written report for the 2013 Chichester Town Report, the deadline is January 10. Financial and statistical reports are due on January 23.

Out Of The Attic Thrift Shop News

Submitted By Carol Hendee

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU goes to Dominicks Restaurant, our neighbors across Rte 28.

They donated a very large box of toys to be passed out to children as they came into the store!

That created many smiles!!  Also, thank you to the “lights guy.”  Many of you have strings of colorful Christmas lights from his generous donations of many strings of lights he had collected over the years.  Thank you to everyone who donated items to the Attic this year.  It was a good one with so many articles of clothing, kitchen items, books, cd’s, dvd’s, etc. all passing from one house to find use again in another.  We hope to see many of the familiar faces and new ones in 2014!  Happy New Year!  We are 5 miles from the Epsom Circle, Rte 28 north-Mon. 8-12; Tues. & Thurs. 8-4; Wed. 11-4 & Sat. 10-4.  247-7191.

2014 NH Hunting And Fishing Licenses Available

The Chichester Town Clerk has 2014 Hunting and Fishing Licenses available for purchase. Get yours early and be set for outdoor adventure from ice fishing to bagging your deer next fall. Licenses are good from January 1 through December 31, 2014.

For State residents, an annual Freshwater Fishing License is $35; the Basic Hunting License is $24.50 and a Combo Hunting and Freshwater Fishing License is $48.50. Residents can buy a one day Freshwater Fishing License for $10.00. Coastal anglers need an $11 NH Saltwater Recreation Fishing License, if older than the age of 16.

Beginning in 2014, Regular Hunting and Fishing Licenses will be computer generated. Making it much easier and faster since information will already be in the system. A $3 transaction fee will be charged per license form. Chichester was fortunate to be a pilot town using the new system since August and the transition went very well.

When you get your license from the Chichester Town Clerk’s office, pick up the new 2014 Freshwater Fishing and Saltwater Digest. Also available is the 2014 Hunting Digest along with the OHRV/Snowmobile Digest.

Letter

I would like to bring your attention to a situation with the Chichester Police Department. My name is Eddie Torres. I live in Pittsfield. At the Pittsfield Police Department we have what is called a “call box.” This “call box” is used if a police officer is off on a call or if after business hours and the station is closed. This “call box” makes sure if ever an emergency, you can get help ASAP.

At 1:30 AM, I ran out of gas and decided to go to the Chichester Police Department and use their “call box.” After making it there by foot that late night, I found out the police were nowhere to be found. I had no way to contact them. If this situation were an emergency (example: woman in need or in an accident), I or anyone else would or could ultimately be in danger!

The Town of Chichester and its visitors should always feel safe... and I know that night/morning, I did not feel safe at all.

I would please ask anyone who has children or anyone they care about to use their voices to get Chichester to fix this problem. Not everyone has cell phones, so 911 is not always an option for everyone.

Eddie Torres
