Happy Birthday to Ansley McLaughlin on December 4.
Chichester Grange is collecting “Socks for Seniors” between now and
December 20. There will be a collection box at the Chichester Town
Library, but if you are not around during open library hours you can
put socks in the book drop. The goal is to have many pairs of new
colorful socks to distribute to older folks, especially those in
nursing homes, at Christmas time. Any socks will be welcome, but
colorful patterned socks are the goal of the program. Look for
stripes or spots or animal patterns – anything bright and cheerful
in adult sizes.

Chichester Town Library News
Tomorrow, December 4th, is a meeting of the Book Club at noon. Clara
and Mr. Tiffany will be discussed at that time. The next book for
reading and discussion is The Night Circus, by Erin Morgenstern.
Described as a spell-casting novel, it features a bit of magic and
a bit of romance—all within the imaginative setting of a mysterious
circus. The Book Club will be meeting on January 8th for
this meeting, since New Year’s Day competes with their regularly
scheduled meeting.
Following up on the heels of a successful holiday book sale is
another—just in time to finish up your holiday shopping. Although
some beautiful books have already been purchased, more are on
display and others have since been donated. Want other gifts, such
as movies or music or a decorative piece featuring books? They’re
also available at rock bottom prices. This last Down Under Holiday
Book Sale is scheduled for December 6th from 9 a.m. to noon.
As a gift from the Library to the parents of young children, a movie
night is planned for the evening of December 6th, from 6:30-8:30
p.m. Parents of children five years of age and older can take the
evening off to do some of their holiday shopping or to just enjoy a
quiet evening, as their young charges enjoy “Nanny McPhee.” Younger
children, under the age of five, are welcome to come to the movie,
but a parent/guardian must accompany them. The movie gives the
viewer a “2fer;” i.e., it’s fun to watch and also teaches that
actions have consequences. Popcorn will be provided and games will
be available for those not interested in the movie.
Plans for the party and drawing for the Samantha Parkington American
Girl doll are well underway. But, there are only a few more days
that raffle tickets can be purchased. Don’t miss out on them! They
are still available at the Library until December 12th, when the
winner of the doll, outfits and related books will be selected. The
drawing will be at 8 p.m., as part of the party which is scheduled
from 7-8:30 p.m. All children, along with the buyers of raffle
tickets, are invited. A special treat is being prepared for the
kids who bring a favorite doll, stuffed animal or other easily
carried toy; and caroling is anticipated for those who want to
express their holiday joy in song.
The new Craft Group has been quite busy and successful in their
endeavors. Members have made wonderful treasure boxes out of, what
else but, great books! They have also learned a needlework
technique enabling them to create beautiful greeting cards. Sounds
like a lot of fun and a great way to exercise that creative side in
all of us. They normally meet on Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m., but
with all things, it is subject to change. Call the Library, or
watch Face Book to get the most up-to-date information.
A special treat is being planned for January 11th to brighten up
those winter days. The Pontine Theatre will be bringing their
rendition of “A Winter’s Tale” to the Grange at 1 p.m. More
information to come but, in the meantime, save the date!
