The local planning team is within sight of its goal of raising $5,000 for the Plan NH Community Design Charrette scheduled for October 17 and 18. It’s not too late to join the “50 100 Club” with your donation of $100 (or any amount). Donation cards are available at local businesses or call 736-7074 or 798-5709 for further information.

Some of the folks who are coming in to run the Plan NH Community Design Charrette on October 17 and 18 will need a place to stay. There is no food involved, only a place to sleep.  If you have a spare room for an overnight guest, please contact 798-5709.

The Plan NH Community Design Charrette is for all citizens of Chichester. This is a chance to help shape the future of our town’s center. Please attend a listening session on Friday afternoon, October 17, or a later public session at 5:30 p.m. for your ideas to be heard. Also, please come to the pot luck supper on Friday around 5 p.m.to talk further about these ideas with your friends and neighbors. Check the Heritage Commission web pages under the Town of Chichester website for additional information, or call a live person at 736-7074 or 798-5709.

The local planning team for the Plan NH Community Design Charrette will meet on October 13th at the Historical Society Museum, 49 Main Street, at 7 p.m. Residents of Chichester are welcome to attend the meeting.

Chichester Grange will meet on Wednesday, October 15, at 7 p.m. upstairs in the Grange Hall.

Happy Birthday on October 8 to Skip Jarvis and Colby Despres and on October 9 to Brianne Stone and Camdyn Despres.

Chichester Town Library News

The Red House by Mark Haddon is the subject of the newly formed book club at the Library, which will be meeting on Thursday, October 9th at noon.  Participants have chosen to meet over lunch, bringing sandwiches or their own lunch selections. The Library will provide coffee and tea.  Even if you didn’t come to the formation meeting, you are still welcome to join the group. The Library also has a couple of copies of the book, if a participant needs one.

The Library has hosted a pumpkin decorating contest to help beautify the Chichester for the “Design Charrette” the Heritage commission is hosting on October 17th  & 18th.  Winners for the 5 and under, 6-10 years of age and 11 years old and up are being selected today.  The three winners will receive a free ticket to Chucksters!  We congratulate and thank all who participated!

The proceeds from the book sales and raffles have enabled the Library to purchase two new computers for the public to use.  One is a Chrome Box and the other is a laptop that will have Microsoft Office and will be connected to the printer.  Thanks to all who have participated in any way to help accomplish this.

There will be a very special raffle starting in October.  One of the highly sought after American Girl dolls, Samantha Parkington, has been donated just in time for those seeking a very special holiday gift.  Samantha, fashioned around a girl in 1904, “never met a tree I couldn’t climb, a rule I couldn’t ruffle, or a friend I couldn’t help. I’m all heart and always ready to lend a hand to somebody in need,” according to the website.  Included in the raffle are some Samantha-related books and outfits.  The winner of the raffle will be selected at a “Samantha Winter Party,” after one of the books. Holiday cookies and camaraderie will abound!

Sometime in the near future, there will be a much-needed new front door for the Library, thanks to the generosity of those who recently donated to the memory of Tina Mobbs.  Also, thanks to her family who generously give of their time and efforts to the Library.

ATTENTION CRAFTERS:  Chichester Town Library is inviting crafters to an exploratory gathering to determine if a group would be interested in meeting.  Please come on Tuesday, October 21st at 11 o’clock to give your input and decide on a convenient future meeting time.  Bring a current project, if you like.  The library will provide refreshments.

Tis the season!  We are located on Suncook Valley Hgwy (Rte 28) near the Pittsfield line.) Mon. 8-12; Tues. & Thurs. 8-4; Wed. 11-4 & Sat. 10-4.
