The Chichester Youth Association (CYA) has been selected a recipient
of a program that the Comcast Corporation promotes called Comcast
Cares, where they reach out to help a local non-profit organization
to better the community. This will happen on Saturday, April 27th
from around 8 am-12 pm and we will have a number of projects around
Carpenter Park that we will be working on to brighten things up.
The way that this works is they actually make a donation towards
materials in advance and then based upon the number of people who
show up, they will make another donation in the future, so it’s
imperative that we get as many people to participate as possible.
Any amount of time is helpful and this is an event for the whole
family. Kids are encouraged to participate and we will have projects
for all including painting, gardening, building, field maintenance,
etc.
Please feel free to contact Joe
Montambeault at
[email protected]
or 603-566-1507 for more info on how you can help. Please help to
make this a huge success and the park something that we can all be
proud of.
Chichester Grange will meet on Wednesday, May 1, upstairs in the
Grange Hall. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with the Turkey Supper
that was postponed from last meeting. The meeting will follow at 7
p.m.
Happy Birthday to Chris Millette on April 29 and Joshua Stone on
April 30.
If you enjoyed last year’s Penny Sales at the Grange Hall you will
be pleased to know that another one is coming up on the morning of
Saturday, May 18. If you have never been to a Penny Sale, set the
date aside and find out how much fun they are. This Penny Sale will
have value added in the form of baked goods.
Come enjoy a great day of fun with the family!

Out Of Your Attic Thrift Shop News
Submitted By Carol Hendee
Check our prices vs. box stores. A big box store is advertising baby
onesies for $6.99. Our price is $1.00! We also have some for 50¢
and the red tag baby items for April are 25¢ including baby socks,
pants and shirts.
The requests for the week include men’s fedora hats (like Dick
Tracey) and bow ties. People who are doing the costumes for school
plays often shop in our store. Current needs are blue sweat pants
for kids, knee high striped socks, a ladies yellow dress (size 16)
and orange or yellow pants for kids (see why they are hard to
find!)
We are low on forks and spoons. We
could also use some bags that are larger than the grocery store
bags. Come see us on Route 28, 5 miles north from the Epsom Circle
on the left. We’re open Mon. 8-12; Tues. and Thurs. 8-4; Wed. 11-4;
Sat. 10-4. Phone number for the Attic is 247-7191. The e-mail for
Baby Threads and sewing questions is:

Many have experienced the fear that comes with not having health
insurance. Others are covered, but have seen their premiums rise
exponentially. New Hampshire has an important opportunity that will
address both of these problems: accepting federal funds to expand
Medicaid.
Medicaid currently only covers low-income children, people with
disabilities, and some parents. This leaves others to fall through
the cracks without health coverage they can afford. Expansion would
help solve this problem by covering more than 22,000 Granite Staters
who would otherwise be uninsured.
A smaller uninsured population would also be good for businesses and
consumers who pay for private insurance. Family plans cost around
$1000 extra to make up for uninsured people who get care they can’t
pay for.
In Concord, the House has already shown their support for the new
coverage option. Now we need to ensure the Senate does the same. My
Senator, John Reagan, has not yet announced his support for this
commonsense solution.
I encourage Senator Reagan’s
constituents to contact him at
[email protected]
or 603-463-3009 and ask that he do the right thing: accept federal
funds and expand Medicaid. Reagan represents Allenstown, Chichester,
Deerfield, Epsom, Loudon, Northwood, Nottingham, Pembroke,
Pittsfield, Raymond, and Strafford.
